I heard that if you don't vote, it is kept in the records that you are a person who doesn't even vote, and this can affect your employment chances. True?

Today's election day but I was thinking I don't want to vote even though I recently got my citizenship.

No. All votes are anonymous.
Go vote. It's the American way.

I believe the question wasn't about the vote but instead the voting.

It will only affect
1) The amount of junk mail you get from candidates
2) Or if you are planning to run for public office, i.e. your opponent bringing it up..

Depends.. I once did have a job with the RNC, who verified that not only was I a registered Republican, but that I turned out to vote..

But yes, thats an extreme scenario. Most jobs wont care.

It could for certain public sector positions. Not for private sector positions.

It will not effect you're ability to get a job.

It will determine the amount of phone calls and mail you get. If you are registered for a party, your local party headquarters will have rosters of people that vote and if they have voted in the past few elections. If you have voted in the past 4 elections straight, you are considered a "good" voter and they will spend more time contacting you about the candidates.
