First and foremost is that we need a victory in Iowa and at least a close second if not a victory in NH too. Then we move south where the going is going be tough. The south is Clinton country. People here love the Clintons and blacks are the most ardent supporters of the Clintons here. Obama will have to find ways to pull more of the black vote from Hillary without offending white Democrats here (which means no Jesse Jacson or Al Sharpton). How can he do this? High profile black endorsments will help. While most of the black politicians have or will endorse Hillary, if Obama can counter with some big black celebrity names (Oprah will be a big asett here), he can overcome the lack of political endorsements. I would advise him to seek out entertainer and athletes (free of scandle and 4 letter words in songs) for public appearances. Black voters tend to admire such people. Also he needs to go hard after the "suburban mom" vote and pry that from Hillary. Their concerns are things like education, healthcare and war. His other major drawback is the EXPERIENCE factor. This can be overcome. JFK did it and so can he. What he must do is start to talk about his decision making process as President and what type of advisors and cabinet members he might like to have. If voters are convinced that he will surround himself with and listen to seasoned experienced people, this will go far towards overcomeing his own lack of experience.

If he cant make it to the WH on his own merits then he shouldn't be running for President.
If you think I'm going to vote for Obama because of a celebrity endorsements, you're outta your mind.
If anything Oprah is going to hurt him.

All great men have one thing in common. They have great people in there corner. Going in solo is a sure way to loose.

Obama's polls are up in Iowa, ahead of Clinton.. they are far from hurting him.

As for him getting ahead on his own merits.. agree, but isnt that what he's doing? Yeah, Oprah is giving him some press.. probably some money.. isnt that what all of the candidates do? Not sure how this is any different then Clinton getting millions from the Insurance industry.

Ahh just figured it out.. Oprah wont be trying to get contracts with the government in exchange for her support..

You and I might not give a hoot about celebrity, political or athlete endorsements because we are well educated political beings. Otherwise we would not be on this board in this subject. BUT to the millions and millions of potential voters who will never listen to a minute of political radio or TV and never visit this board, these endorsements can make a huge difference. For one thing they can get the "unvoted" out to vote for your candidate. Folks that would otherwise stay home or are otherwise undecided.

I like Obama, except for his stand in illegal immigation. His wife seems intelligent and is a terrific speaker in her own right. We need another strong First Lady.

Yeah, as if he has the discipline to do this. Or forethought, or love of country.
