I was more surprised at the interviewers lack of polish than Walker's
If you are referring to the Martha Raddazt interview, it was Walker who was stumbling over himself. Martha was a pro.
Quote:
Walker soon found that This Week host Martha Raddatz is no Charlie Sykes. She is an actual journalist. She had real questions and did not let Walker evade those questions. It visibly rattled Walker to be put on the spot.
Quote:
So in this short interview segment, a Walker Doctrine was defined, saying that we should put boots on the ground anywhere in the world. That we should commit US men and women to such quagmires as the Syrian civil war, all in the name of being "more aggressive". Only 38% of Americans would support such a new war in Syria by sending ground troops there. The thought of this career politician with no international experience being in charge of US foreign policy and troops is a frightening one, at best.
The ABC News interviewer was not out to get Walker. However, other than Fox, the national media will not throw softballs at him. They will ask probing, serious questions and expect actual answers. He is not dealing with sympathetic media anymore. The ABC interview is only the beginning. Walker is proving that he is not ready for a national stage. He is not ready for prime time.
I don't know, exactly how "surging" can it be when you have 15% of the Iowa vote? That's not a comment about Walker but a comment about the Bloomberg headline. Bush, meanwhile is "struggling" with 8% of the Iowa vote. Rand Paul has 14% but he's apparently not verb/participle-worthy nor is Huckabee at 10%. Ben Carson has 9%.
The "I told you so" part of the Iowa poll shows Christie at 4% with a 54% unfavorability rating. Apparently, this only comes as a surprise to the news media along the NYC/DC corridor who live in a bubble and think Christie's problem is Bridgegate..
Although the Iowa poll was taken before Romney dropped out, poll participants were also asked to name their second choice candidate. Who do you think the Romney voters chose second? Mike Huckabee. Bush only went up one and no one changed places in the order.
Perry scored best (62%) on ideology being about right but it didn't help his poll numbers (3%).
Walker will be very popular on the campaign trail in a Sarah Palin sort of way. At first, the right will memorized, then embarrassed, and then his name will be of limits to the left.

Doubt it, Palin won one election and she didn't accomplish much.
Walker won 2 elections and a recall election. He wouldn't have won those election with Palin style bloopers. He also had a lot of accomplishments that Palin didn't have.
But most importantly it is too early to draw conclusions. Jeb Bush may be less articulate than we expect, or Scott Walker may have some skelectons in closet, that actually matter.
Walker has a large budget deficit and is borrowing 1.8 billion to balance it. All for $5 property tax break so he could say he cut taxes. Walker was reelected by rural living, old, white people who don't understand the issues. Listen to Walker. He talks in bumper sticker slogans which he repeats like a broken record.

When Walker took office the deficit was higher than today. He could probably have reduced the deficit even more without the property tax break, but he calculated that a tax reduction would give him better presidental opportunities.
Hence, most voters are going to completly ignore that issue, and will focus on his other accomplishments.

Scott Walker won pretty much every single country except Madison and Milwaukee, the rest are not all old white people. And if you think they are much smarter in the rest of America, you are in for a suprise.
Voters want bumper sticker slogans. Both Obama and Bush won by repeating the same over and over again. In governor races it is even more important, because most people do not watch the debates, but just listen to the summary afterwards.

Check to see how things measure up today compared to when he took office BTW, why do you even care? Have you even seen a Republican you would support? .
