Duuuude, now I do care, I don't see why you can't follow our logic that if he is like Bush/Cheney because of the party, then the dems must be full of bigots. Come on now, you made a statement yet refuse to back it up.

well you might as well bring up the newsletters, your points about domestic energy and abortion rights dont seem to have swayed anybody, not that they should have as none of ron pauls positions on the subjects were secret to begin with.you are the one who acts like all republicans think alike about everything, which is as silly a statement as someone saying that robert byrd and robert kennedy agreed on everything because they were both democrats.some democrats and some republicans were active in the civil rights movement while others from both parties actively opposed federal civil rights legislation.most of the biggest opponents were democrats.most of the biggest supporters were also democrats.lincoln was a republican and freed the slaves.most of the strongest anti-slavery people pre civil war were republicans and the whigs that preceded them.all the blacks elected during reconstruction were republicans.i guess using your standards an argument could be made that the republicans were the first party to look out for black people...i dont think any of this is real relevant in 2008.....upton is there some reason you would think that ron paul has some broad appeal among democrats?what was the point of your post to begin with?if ron paul had run for the democratic nomination i figure he would be polling worse then mike gravel.you didnt reveal anything about the "real"ron paul that his supporters dont already know.would there be a point in my starting a thread about how the "real hillary clinton" is for universal healthcare, unrestricted abortion rights, higher taxes and a dozen other things she has never denied?i like ron paul but dont expect him to get the nomination and hope whoever gets the nomination will allow oil drilling wherever with proper oversight, and will allow the states control over things the federal govt shouldnt be involved in anyway, and will do something about securing the southern border...if there is anything you know about ron paul that i didnt know 20 years ago please feel free to share it.

Btw, Noahma if you care about a women's right to chose, Ron Paul's position of overturning Roe v Wade would, in sending it back to the states, make abortion illegal in about half the states. Perhaps that's what you want, if that's the case support RP.
as I said in my post. He fits my views pretty well. There is only really one issue I do have with him. and roe vs. wade is not one of the issues I have with him

I want the states to have the powers they once had back. bring the choices to a community level so it is more personal, and get the money back into the local community so it can be spent the way the people want, not the way the big wigs in D.C. think we want it spent. I am sick and tired of people doing what they think I want, or what they think is better for me. I want to decide what is best for me, and what is best for my community with the help of people in the community.
