So I follow Robert Reich on Facebook (no surprise to many of you familiar with me I imagine), he says some things I agree with, some I disagree with, but today he posted something sort of interesting. This is a small portion of the entire comment:
Quote:
I heard today from my friend, the former Republican member of Congress, who tells me GOP leaders -- desperate to dump Trump (whom he describes as an “unguided missile”) and defuse Cruz (“a total jerk”) -- are reexamining Party rules that bind delegates to candidates who win state primaries and caucuses. “There’s no law that says we have to nominate an *******,” he says. “We’ll wait until it’s too late for either of them to file as a third-party candidate, and then flush them down the toilet.”
This is exactly the sort of nonsense that the GOP, and the DNC are doing lately to the candidates that challenge the establishment. This is insanely dangerous to a democracy. And I think that the GOP is vastly underestimating the outrage that will follow, as well as the lawsuits.

Believe me, I am no fan of Trump, but this nonsense demonstrates just how out of touch many at the top are.

And yet many of you on the left can't figure out why we support him. It's not just what he says or what we think he can do, but he is a huge middle finger to the establishment. I'd argue a good portion of his support stems from exactly that, and this is why he has very broad appeal regardless of people pigeonholing as just a right wing candidate. I'm telling you, people HATE Washington and he will grab votes for this very reason. Bank on it...

Robert Reich. LOL. Surely you jest. This guy doesn't know and anyone who believes he does is a perfect fool.

Agree with the above posts. They cannot just wait until it's too late for them to file. They don't get it! It's a huge anti-establishment movement. Eff with it and pay the price. Trump supporters will not just bend over and vote for a hand picked establishment puppet candidate. If they pull any shenanigans, I along with most Trump supporters will either not vote at all or we will vote for Hillary in protest!

Bernie Sanders is the solution IMO. A man who for 40 years has worked his a** off for salt of the earth Americans and taken on all the wealthy and powerful interests who undermine the middle class.

So why not vote for Cruz? The R establishment hates him -- he even called McConnell a liar. Trump is a scary loose cannon with no self control. And his narcissism borders on pathological.

Because he is a religious fundamentalist. Think Rick Santorum or Mike Huckabee.
