I'm sorry that you failed so badly at life that now you feel you should take money from others who earned it. Please continue to try for success.
Oh, lol. I seriously doubt you are in any measure more successful than I am, dear idr. I am very, very happy with how my life turned out. I hope you feel the same.
So you mean, you are for confiscating some ones wealth, someone who's family has worked years to obtain, through starting a business or having an invention or making an investment that grows....you are for, saying, once someone gets so much money (fortune), that it should be forcible taken, and redistributed to the middle class....so they can spend it on comforts of life? And that is Bernie's position?
I wish there was a free online copy of Andrew Carnegie's Gospel of Wealth to link to. Pity there's not.
Do you, or your fellow MISGUIDED Bernie cheerleaders, really want another INEPT republican administration in the White House?
As PKNopp has stated, I cannot tell the difference between Hillary and an inept Republican. She couldn't hold a position as dogcatcher without invoking some scandal within a year or so or things falling apart. Obama cut her loose as Secretary of State and see what she did there.
He would not get 90% of what he wanted, but he might reverse the very dangerous trend toward wealth and influence concentration that we have seen over the last few decades. (I don't support Bernie just yet, but I am starting to lean).
That's exactly where I am. There's no way he can accomplish what he'd want to. I like his ideas, but he won't have the support of most Democrats (let alone Republicans) to raise taxes on much of anyone.
I've lived in Europe and while they pay more taxes, they get a lot in return. I liked what I saw.
I'll answer your question with a question. Let's assume I bust my but and have my entire life. I now earn 1 million dollars per year. How much of that do you feel is fair for the government to take?
Are you white? If so, your white privilege ALLOWED you to get (see, never say earn, cause that implies you worked) that money, so it is only "fair" that the government takes what those in office "deem" to be fair.
Unfortunately, in the mind of socialist democrats, fairness relates to the outcome, not the opportunity, so your personal effort is never a factor in the "fairness equation."
Actually what i said is we're legislating small businesses out of the ability to compete with big businesses who help write the laws to keep out the competition.
Are you afraid Sanders would keep up this trend? Everything I've read is that he's managed to garner much rural republican support in his state because he has a track record for standing behind the small businesses and farms.
I also think he is level headed about firearms and the 2nd amendment. That's one thing I've had trouble getting behind the majority of democrats.
So did the person who makes $40,000 per year. So we can agree that the slice should be the same size as a percentage of the pie?
Maybe. Instead of a progressive income tax, you could have a flat tax. But then you ought to delete all deductions, including mortgage interest and charitable giving. Capital gains should be taxed at the same rate as other income. There should be no cap on the income that is subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes. Sales taxes should be eliminated. All of the above are things that disproportionally benefit the wealthy.

SS doesn't disproportionately benefit those with a high income. They've been losing money on it since the mid 1990s. And now, even the middle class loses money on SS.
