I have heard so many stories and you can't always believe what is written but I heard that the Clintons took for over 200K in furniture from the White House that didn't belong to them and that they got a penalty of approx. $ 70K and had to return the furniture.

Anyone who has more info on that as we never heard of that in Europe like most Europeans never hear anything other than the lefties side of any story about any elections.

It is a true story although I don't remember the fine. They needed furniture for their new home and they were broke when they left the WH.

Easily fact checked with a simple google search but of course that's not nearly as fun as repeating false rumors.

Quote:
According to top ethics lawyers, it’s at least debatable -- and at worst hyperbolic -- to say the Clintons "stole" the items. A congressional investigation found poor tracking of ownership and final disposition of gifts, which makes it hard to speak definitively of wrongdoing. In fact, two items the Clintons returned were ultimately sent back to them. Finally, it’s worth making clear that the "force" they responded to was political pressure, not legal jeopardy.

Accusations of stealing are serious and require a high threshold of evidence, unmet by the charges in this over-the-top graphic. We rate the claim Mostly False.

Yes, I remember hearing about the story back when it first happened. Her alibi was that she thought they had been gifts given to her and not the white house.

Several of the furniture companies that donated the furniture pieces stated they were under the impression their donations were to be property of the White House, to remain in the White House, and not to be taken by the Clintons.

The truth is that Hillary attempted to claim that gifts from foreign nations were personal gifts to her and Bill instead of being State property. Some of those items included furniture and other home items. Once discovered and rebuffed, she set up an online gift registry for supporters to donate items and cash so that she could furnish her new mansion in New York. She does not even pay the mortgage on that home. There is a small cottage on the grounds that is rented to the Secret Service. By coincidence, the rent charged is enough to cover their entire mortgage on the entire property. The Clintons never spend their own money. They are the ultimate "grifters".

I did hear it on CNN mentioned last week but nowadays it is hard to filter what is true and what isn't.
