America, you’re stupid: Donald Trump’s political triumph makes it official

Have to admit it, the author is right,

Quote:
I hate to have to say it, but the conclusion stares us in the face: We’re a stupid country, full of loud, illiterate and credulous people. Trump has marched straight to the nomination without offering anything like a platform or a plan. With a vocabulary of roughly a dozen words – wall, Mexicans, low-energy, loser, Muslims, stupid, China, negotiate, deals, America, great, again – he’s bamboozled millions of Americans. And it’s not just splenetic conservatives supporting Trump or your garden-variety bigots (although that’s the center of his coalition), it’s also independents, pro-choice Republicans, and a subset of Reagan Democrats.

Obama has specific policy positions that were workable. Trump has vague platitudes (e.g. make America Great Again) and the only specifics are either unworkable, unrealistic or unconstitutional.

three examples:
  • Banning Muslims from entering the country is unconstitutional and morally wrong.
  • His tax-plan slashes taxes on people in his income bracket and adds a trillion a year to deficits.
  • his wall is not practical from an engineering standpoint.

2008 was "Hope and Change" not much difference here, two great marketers understanding how to sway their core audience.

Politics aside, what makes the wall not practical?

I could not agree more with the title of that article. Trump's success as a presidential candidate proves once and for all that Americans have become dumbed down beyond hope. When we leave the country (our plans are in place should Trump become the nominee) it will not be to get away from Trump, it will be to get away from a culture that has devolved to the point that someone like him could be an actual contender for the presidency.
