Bingo. Trump won't win the general election. If they nominate someone else, the Trump supporters will revolt. Especially if he decides to run as an independent. The GOP is damned if they do, damned if they don't.

For the past 50 years or so the GOP has been actively courting uneducated, socially conservative regressive authoritarians, bigots, xenophobes and racists. For the past 30 years they've been keeping them whipped up in a frenzy of anger by fearmongering and outright lies, then ignoring them when it comes to making policy except for throwing them an occasional bone in the form of legislation that rarely passes muster in the courts. They planted those poison seeds and kept them watered. Now the twisted tree has reached maturity and borne fruit.

Trump holds all the cards and right now it's a royal flush.

If Trump doesn't win the nomination via getting the required number of delegates, then he doesn't deserve to be the winner automatically . Remember he called Romney a loser. At least Romney won the GOP primary without the necessity for a brokered convention.

It's Trump's own big mouth that has caused people to vote against him. Had he been a more decent human being, he likely would have easily won the nomination.

I agree!

A famous businessman - telling people that he can make American great again because he is an expert negotiator . . etc!

But instead we got Mexican rapists, Megyn Kelly tweets, and big hands.

Lol, what a crock of baloney!

The GOP "committed suicide" when it nominated Bob Dole. And John McCain. And Mitt Romney...

GOP changed the rules so that only Romney could win primary in 2012. So now those very rules might mean that only Trump can be nominated.

So guess what? The GOP including Romney want those rules changed. Romney is a loser. Lost to McCain, lost to Obama.

If the GOP wants to die, I say fine, one establishment party down, one to go.
this i agree with. if trump goes into the convention with enough delegates to be the nominee on the first ballot, and the powers that be steal the nomination from him, THEN we are talking political suicide. if trump however becomes the nominee, after garnering the required number of delegates, then there is hope for the republican party, as long as they support their nominee.

the democrat party istn going anywhere regardless of what they do, hillarys nomination was predetermined and everyone is just going through the motions.

Really? If he has the most votes I'll punish every Republican all the way down to town dogcatcher when I go to vote if they sc**w him out of the nomination.

Stop parroting the media and the jerks on Capitol Hill. We've been warning them long before Trump got in the race with low approval ratings -- low approval ratings that they failed to address. Now they want to blame Trump? They have one h*ll of a nerve.

If he doesn't get 1,237 delegates and doesn't end up as the nominee it will not have been stolen from him. He would have lost it, as have other candidates in the past who showed up at the convention with the most delegates but not enough to secure the nomination.
