The man took office when America was in trouble. I keep repeating this fact, but his haters will not admit it. Unemployment was growing at alarming rates. People were losing everything, homes, cars, motorhomes, boats, etc. Consumer confidence was down, and people were not spending money on anything except bare necessities.

My shop is in a row of 16 other shops, and, 8 years ago, they were going out of business to the point we were the only shop still standing. We never saw a construction vehicle on the roads, and businesses were scrounging for business, just to keep the doors open. Banks were not loaning money and had a glut of repossessed homes, cars, and everything else on their books.

Here we are, 8 years later, and unemployment has dropped very dramatically. People are buying and building homes once again. Construction is booming, and you have a long wait to get a service person out to take care of you because they have so much business. Places are hiring and can not get enough people to fill those positions.

The center where my shop is has zero vacancies now, every shop is filled with people in there conducting business. When I ask people how business is, they say they have "Too much and kind of wish it would slow down so they can take a breather". I work in a luxury business (boats) and the last thing people spend money on is boats when things are bad. We are having record numbers and it grows every month.

Therefore, I THANK BARRACK OBAMA for the job he has done for America ! Even now, when he is a lame duck and could be coasting, he still works hard every day because that is the kind of man he is. I just wish I could vote for him a 3rd time. This recovery did not happen out of thin air......the man at the helm did it, and there is no denying that fact.

Don
I agree.

He took over when times were tough, and despite constant opposition from Congress (has there ever been over 60 votes to repeal anything before?) and constant accusations and crazy conspiracy theories http://www.motherjones.com/politics/...iracy-theories , he continues doing his job with grace, intelligences, and persistence.

Can you just imagine where we'd be now if we had elected John McCain and Sarah Palin?

Excellent post. History is going to record President Obama as a good, possibly great, president, if only for how much he was able to accomplish despite an opposition party focused on one thing and one thing only, to make him fail, even knowing that they were rooting for the country to fail with him.

Despite that, he righted the ship and the U.S. is in much better shape than when he first took the helm. History is going to be kind to President Obama, and it's going to kill the radical Tea Party rightwing fundamentalists who wanted so badly to see him fail.

I've come to the conclusion that a 2 party Republic ( when 1 side dissed the other ..blocks for the sake of blocking) system works against the "Country's" interest...yet blame the leader ( cough/puke per GOP folks) for NOT recovering FAST enough..Economy is NOT locally stimulated..BUT internationally based..Corporate per Romney are people too....humm well...Those "PEOPLE" are in it for THEMSELVES!! Not the Country... Countries are diverse..So why should the Country be forced to settle on one or other?? Sure there's others BUT absolutely NO representation in Congress...SO..meanwhile..Hate other side..regardless if their side is undermining progress?? WTH ??

BO actually given the hand he was dealt..made out pretty well considering the Hateful rhetoric..waste of $$ on items..and refusing to the "Peoples Work"...

Now..question..Whi is responsible today for Congress NOT doing the "Peoples Work?" GOP has had control of Congress for past few years?? Other than wasting time SCOTUS rulings ( ACA) ..They continue to vote of defunding..instead of revising and making changes BO has been asking for for past 6 years!!

Folks who elect a GOP WH (POTUS) leader will rue that day..and repercussions in this international world will come back to haunt those Koolaide drinkers of Trump..aka similar pied-piper > Jim Jone's seller of false HOPE/Salvaton... False promises..blaming..name calling without specifics..wanting support ONLY based on Belief?? Yikes..Look what happen to those believers of Jim Jones

Bottom line..The Bible even speaks to "False Prophets"..Yet it remains..MANY fall under their spells..That makes me SAD!! Inability to recognize False Prophets is a symptom of those who have NOT used their intelligence ..But then again..There maybe percentage amongst us..Who do NOT know any better..OR worse..embrace some embedded Hatreds taught to them..or worse..only care about themselves...The World can go to He$$ ..Who cares!! Sad but true!
Jim Jones' followers enthralled by his skills as a speaker - CNN.com
Like all powerful speakers, Jones' greatest asset was his ability to determine what listeners wanted to hear and give it to them in simple language that appealed to them on an almost instinctual level.

"He was very charismatic, very charismatic," said Leslie Wilson, who survived that fateful day in Jonestown by walking away from the settlement before the cyanide that killed more than 900 Peoples Temple members was distributed. She was one of 33 people who began the day in Jonestown and lived to tell the tale.

"He could quote scripture and turn around and preach socialism," she said. "He appealed to anyone on any level at any time." Hear Jones declare "I am God" »
Quote:
His rages created a fear that cemented the hold he had on his followers.

He also used a "divide and conquer" method among his followers. (sound familiar?)

"What Jones did was try to break all ties that were not to him," said former believer Vernon Gosney. "Transfer all that loyalty, all that bonding to him. And so families were broken apart. Relationships were divided."

Such divisions caused family members to spy and report on one another, or friends to turn in friends for various transgressions.

Jones furthered the poisonous atmosphere among his followers by encouraging physical fighting to either solve problems or administer punishment. Audiotapes of such sessions reveal Jones laughing, apparently entertained.
I can imagine a similar ( Underlined above) with Trumps disbelief his followers actually entertained by them..and no doubt dumbfounded

Jones' mastery of the spoken word also enabled his many sexual exploits with both female and male followers. Jones deftly justified his actions to his followers by saying that what he did to them was actually for their own benefit, or the benefit of making the church a stronger, tighter-knit organization.
Please beware of False Messengers..especially with Trump actually having a history of taking advantage of others..yet never has to date not paid his "Pound of Flesh"..

Liberals plummeting creditability since last summer = plummeting favorability since last summer.

Welcome to Harvard students. We have our work cut out for us. The math looks simple but we have to solve it and try to look intelligent too.

It has determined that the U.S. economy experienced 10 recessions from 1946 through 2006. The committee determined that the 2007-2009 recession began in December 2007 and ended in June of 2009. Ending dates are typically announced several months after the recession officially ends. Read the June 2009 trough announcement by the NBER.
Length of Recessions

The 10 previous postwar recessions ranged in length from 6 months to 16 months, averaging about 10 1/2 months. The 2007-09 recession was the longest recession in the postwar period, at 18 months.

OH...... MY...... GOD ! Some of you posters on here have renewed my faith that there are intelligent, reasonable people in this country who see that Obama was not the horrible President some would make him out to be. I think he was great, and would have been even better, if the other side wasn't so Hellbent on stopping him from accomplishing anything at all !

As to the people who say the recovery took way too long, think about this. How long did it take for us to get down into that sewer ? Did you think there was a magic bullet he could fire and suddenly all of those ills would vanish ? It ain't like a reality show where things wrap up in an hour.....we were close to the edge, and fixing it took time and a lot of hard work.

Regarding him using executive orders to circumvent congress, I think he just got so fed up with being blocked at every turn that he said "Enough of this s***, lets get something done here !" Just think about how far ahead America would have been if both sides had been able to act like mature, intelligent adults who cared about America's well being and put aside their stupid differences for the good of all.

If people can not see and feel how much better we are today than when Obama took office, it is simply because they are pig headed and do not care to admit the truth.

"There is none so blind as he who will not see." Amen !

Now, do I expect his haters to ever reconsider and admit any of this ? Hell no.

Obama's approval numbers are light years ahead of W's at the same point... and Obama had to clean up the mess left behind by W.
