Polls: Trump was surging, but now Clinton's clawing back her lead

Hillary Clinton is regaining her lead over Donald Trump in the latest national poll averages and betting markets.

Not long ago, Clinton led by a massive margin. Then Trump locked up the Republication nomination and surged, erasing Clinton's lead in the poll averages and narrowing the gap on the major markets.

What do you care? You've stated before that you would vote for Trump if Hillary was not the Dem nominee, so obviously you would be ok with a Trump Presidency....

Of course she is. Every candidate gets a bump when they become the presumptive nominee of their party for a few weeks, thats why Trump surged. Polls will come back down to their usual, Hillary with a double digit lead. Once she gets the delegates to get the democratic nomination, she's going to surge ahead even more. They will also both get bumps after their conventions. It goes like this every election cycle.

Polls are synthetic way of try to prove a case. They do not speak for the entire local, state or national population. One thing that isn't been covered by the media. What could be the results if all the Democratic and Republicans voted for their candidate?

Now that the primary's are over. Question are there more Democratic voters this season, compared to Republicans? That answer could be more accurate in determining who's going to winning the election.

Trump 2016

Doesn't work that way lol. If it did, everyone would be trying to run as an independent because independents outnumber Rs and Ds by quite a bit and someone like Gary Johnson would easily win the election. Nice try though

I see Clinton by +2 in polls with a margin of error of +/- 3 and even sometimes 4. Number of people polled 1,000 or less. I'm still feeling very confident for both Bernie (Hillary under the bus) and Trump.

I think with the horrible week Hillary has had, make that last couple of weeks, these polls showing her leading at all are based on wishful thinking or a few bucks changing hands.

As far as voters, there are more Democrats than Republicans. But there are many people that aren't R or D, and these independents are increasing. Actual voter turnout is a different issue.

Party Affiliation | Gallup Historical Trends

As of Apr 2016: 25% R, 31% D, 44% Independent

Yeah I've never understood how polls of 1,000 people are indicative of how 200 million will vote...

But I'm sure Hillary fanbois like dexter will chime in any minute and let me know.

"Clawing" is quite the appropriate word for Hillary's action...any action.

Go Trump!

A lot of the Bernie voters are aggrieved and are likely to stay home. I also think there are a lot of folks out there who privately support Trump, will vote for him, but will not publicly admit to it.
