Some responsibility for what?
Most sane people NEVER believed that the President was born anywhere but Hawai'i.
Is Trump so easily led that he would spend years pursuing an issue that was put to rest before Obama was elected the first time?
Do Trump's supporters really believe that blaming Clinton lets him off the hook? He is the one that spent years lying about the issue.
It's not Clinton's fault that people chose to believe him.
For people in her campaign and her personal circle for spreading the initial story. And it wasn't put to rest before he was elected the first time. If Hillary had gone public with her apology, it would have.
The forefront is a big difference from who started the movement.
IIRC the movement was going full blast when Trump jumped into the fiasco a few years after it had started.
No, when Trump 'jumped in' most of the WORLD believed that Obama was born in Hawaii. Except for some tea party lunatics, that is.
Then in comes the orange tangerine to fan the flames, going on every single talk show AND sending investigators to Hawaii that he loudly publicized. Probably another lie but according to Don on ALL the talk shows - they were finding UNBELIEVEABLE things.
It is precisely at this time that republicans began inviting the orange tangerine to speak at their functions and this was his entry into politics.
You can spin it however you want. Donald Trump was the birther in chief and he never let it died.

WASHINGTON
Two supporters of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign reportedly shared the claim that then-rival Barack Obama was not born in the United States and thus was not eligible to be president.
One was a volunteer in Iowa, who was fired, Clinton’s former campaign manager said Friday. The other was Clinton confidant Sidney Blumenthal, according to a former McClatchy Washington Bureau chief.
Was he fired? No. Has he remained a large part of Hillary's career? Absolutely.
"Reportedly" is a key word here.

Donald Trump, FOR FIVE YEARS, perpetuated this lie. Why did he perpetuate this lie for FIVE YEARS?
When Hillary apologized to Obama, she also apologized for Blumenthal's role in spreading the birther nonsense. Obama later made her promise not to involve Blumenthal in the State Dept. A promise she later broke.
Does the fact the Hillary apologized not indicate she had some degree of responsibility?
People with character apologize for misdeeds of people that report to them, even if they didn't have personable culpability. A general takes responsibility for those under his/her command. Of course, Trump would never do such a thing.
The bottom line is that a member of the Clinton staff did something that they shouldn't have and was let-go for it on the first day. Trump has been pedaling the false lie about Obama for years and the Trumpetes want us to believe that it is exactly the same -- worse, they want to pin it all on Clinton as if Trump did nothing wrong.
What this ultimately shows is how sleazy and disingenuous is Trump's character.
Strange. Clinton has managed to get all the worlds leaders, all the worlds media outlets and all the politicians except Trump to lie for her. It's the entire world picking on and lying against Trump.
How does she ever do it?
Y'know, I really don't understand what kind of hidden power these people think clinton has. If she does, indeed, have all these folks lying for her, then she would be a super powerful president, and the US would get what it wants in the world stage. It sounds like a good idea. So, why they are afraid of her getting elected?

By failing to go public with the story about the volunteer, she allowed the false story to stay out there.
Do you blame the scam artist who hoodwinks an elderly person into giving up their life savings or do you blame the elderly person for giving it up? I say it is partially the elderly person for not being in control of themselves or their finances, but most of the blame goes to the scam artist. Probably not the best analogy, but at some level it works. If Hillary had gone public at the time, the whole birther thing would have died right away. How many primary votes do you think she still got by not going public. Now we know it may have been a good thing she didn't win.

Plus the sleaze and shear duplicity of his supporters and those who carry his water on the internet.
these folks know exactly the lies they perpetuate for Trump and disseminate.
That does not mean anything Trump should apologize for keeping the Birther crap going as long as he did
