A bit old, (almost a year), but since Secretary Clinton is so recently - last night's debate - proud of her and B. Obama's foreign policy success, this seems timely.

Libya; an unmitigated failure

As Libya descends into terrorist chaos, Clinton stands by her war

Notice how, last night, Secretary Clinton regressed, to it is all President Bush'e fault, re the vacuum created when she and B. Obama failed to negotiate peace and failsafe troop levels of 10,000. Be clear, Iraq is one of the 1200 countries Mrs Clinton flew too.

It was her responsibility to know that Al-Baghdadi presented a clear and present danger. It was Secretary Clinton's responsibility to secure continued peace after Gen Petraeus' successful surge strategy brought IRAQ under control, paving the way for peace.

She is a failed Secretary of State, which is why I courteously demoted her to Mrs Clinton. Even there she seems to have failed.

Trump might incredibly win this election, but let's be honest. He'd think al-Baghdadi is a guy he went to school with in New York. Though the Clinton/Obama Libya policy is a disaster, Trump doesn't have the focus, attention span, or knowledge to debate the issue. Even if Holt asked about Libya specifically, do you think Trump could say more than two sentences before wandering on to something else. I don't.

Who knows, maybe 'the Middle East is a mess' is more effective than dealing with specifics.

The only important point of importance is that Mrs Clinton's experience is bad experience. We want to elevate her to the top job, when she already showed she doesn't have a clue?

Don't mistake memorization and regurgitation of a few factoids, or even recognition of some world leaders/characters, such as Mrs Clinton demonstrated at the debate, for competence.

Too much discussion of Libya would put people to sleep. What really comes out of the 'debate' ? Did Trump sniffle and shake Holt's hand ? Did Hillary's finger twitch and did she have stamina ? Was Holt fair ?

So besides Trump being incapable of actually focusing on Libya or any other specific country for more than two sentences, he's better off just trying to sound and look presidential than learning the ins and outs of the Libyan disaster.

You point about superfluous things is well taken. Meanwhile, Mrs Secretary supported, encouraged, initiated the creation of a vacuum in Libya. Libya has since become an ISIS playground and a gateway for the invasion of Italy and Europe by 100s of thousand N African and Middle Eastern illegal migrants.

Bet George and Amal are happy.

There's still 6 weeks left for tv commercials with sound bites describing the Clinton/Obama Libyan disaster. Maybe a future moderator will specifically ask about Libya/Benghazi or Trump can turn the debate that way with sound bites about her bad, bad experience. Plenty of true progressive, anti-war groups agree Clinton led the country into a nightmare in Libya.
