Really what govt? Prez Obama tried to give more and the congress shot it down... Reps cause the loss of salary for many fed contractors with the shut fawn. Fed salary is dependent on the congress- they have DHS in A CR now!
A few years ago after three years of a pay freeze Obama tried to propose a .005 percent raise, that half a percent and it got shot down in 2013. In 2015 a 1.5 percent cola was passed and this year .016 is proposed. Check the facts about Federal pay over the last 30 years. George W Bush gave us better raises then Clinton, who shot down raise amounts, and Obama chose to freeze us for three years. Check the facts. I believe Trump might actually give us bigger raises then Clinton. Federal workers perforn highly technical jobs that change a great deal due changing legislation. You couldnt do my job without a year of training. Plus I pay more taxes then Trump does. Federal workers spend our salaries in your community so its stimulus to your community., which are not overly generous for our workloads compared to comparable jobs in the private sector. You can choose to believe it or not.

On what do you base that he was joking? Nothing previously known about his character would suggest that that could possibly be true. And there is even more coming out. There is a long pattern of this stuff.
