A student secretly filmed a professor telling the students who to vote for. Let me beat the left right now by stating, no, he didn't come right out and use anyone's name. At this point, that's pretty much where most of them are going to leave off. For the rest of you, it's a standard tactic to "say what you mean without coming right out and saying it" that everyone over the age of 10 knows how to decipher. It was very obvious who he was telling the students to vote for.mmThe fact is, it's nothing but smoke and mirrors, these excuses.
The evidence is in the fact that the students are now all up in arms about the recording, and are trying to oust the person who did the recording, even going as far as throwing names out there on the internet - which can cause problems for people who weren't even involved. To beat the left to the excuses again, they aren't going after the student for filming, they are upset that the student "made the professor look bad".
If he's innocent of anything, was simply discussing the election without bias, then how could he possibly "look bad"?

Students were protective of the professor and determined to discover who the student was. Despite administration declaring the student would not be adjudicated, students still accused the student of breaking the law. This causes me to question if there would be a similar response if there was a video of a professor encouraging students to not vote for Hillary and instead vote for Trump…
When I was in college in California (at a CSU campus) in the 70's, professors had no problems telling students how to vote. They were against Prop 13 and their politicking on our money was rampant throughout the university.
I had an accounting instructor who despised Jimmy Carter and Ted Kennedy, and reminded us why every day of the semester. He didn't try to tell us who to vote for, though. A friend of mine has a daughter who recently graduated, who had a teacher last year who pushed Bernie. She's 18 now, and is voting for Trump.
This thread is almost as interesting as the stump stories you hear from candidates about their incidental meetings with voters out on the campaign trail.
It's one example with no broader conclusion to draw.
This guy likes Clinton. I can tell for sure too. It's actually obvious because he describes a sane, thoughtful candidate with reasonable positions. He is transparent about his viewpoint, and he's not being "slick" as you insinuate.
But who cares?
We don't know what preceded the short clip. The students might have begged him to share his views on the election. We simply don't know from what little you provided.
What we do know, from the reaction to whatever bitter James O'Keefe wannabe shot and (illegally) distributed this...
is that the students love this professor and appreciated his thoughts. And I would think that the Mt. Holyoke community supports both the professor and the students who benefited from his wisdom. If not, they can take whatever action they want. It's not for you to judge, OP. It's a PRIVATE institution.
