There are plenty of other places on the forum to call other people smug liberals or racists, so please..

If there was an "upswell" of white working class votes for Trump.....and the vote numbers for the GOP candidate have basically remained the same for the last 3 elections, which is the truth ...what does that mean? That white upper middle class vote was down? They obviously didn't vote for Hillary, because her voters are down 5 and 10 million from Obama in 2012 and 2008. Or, if you say those white working class voters for Obama switched to Trump..where did the other votes go that went to McCain and Romney?

I personally know a few Republicans here on LI who said they couldn't vote for Trump because he was a clown/dangerous Narcissist, not fit, etc, who would not be afraid to tell the truth if they were voting for him. These are upper middle class lawyers and accountants and such.

When you hear one side saying "we have a mandate" and the other saying "white racism is surging"...the numbers tell otherwise. If white racists vote for the GOP, they aren't growing in significant numbers...or if they are, non white racist GOP voters are declining significantly.

My opinion is that this was simply a Democratic candidate who had no enthusiasm behind her, certainly nothing close to Obama. It had very little to do with changing ideology or an angry portion of the electorate.
