If somebody can come up with a way of making it super-secure, then it'll happen. But the incentive and ability to hack into such a system is presently far too great.
With all the attention that hacking this election got, I don't think we will ever see the day when voting can be done online. There is more voting done electronically at the polls, but those machines are not connected to the internet and not vulnerable to hackers.
There will always be a small percentage of voter fraud as long as ID's are not required. I don't know for sure if as many illegals voted as it's been reported. I kind of doubt it, but there should be safeguards in place to prevent it as much as possible.
I wouldn't go so far as to go to paper ballots, because they were rife with problems too, but our elections need to remain decentralized. The more computerized and centralized the count becomes, the greater the danger of a hack.
