...is to not read the WHOLE thing yourself.
I was about to post a criticism of Obama and his "typical white person"
comment. I was very dissapointed that he didn't seem aware that his
white grandmothers response was duplicated everyday by many Black
grandmothers. It's not just elderly White women who hold their purses
more tightly when they see some young Black men. Elderly Black women
hold their purses even tighter!
But I thought I'd better reread the WHOLE story and all the quotes in
order before I commented and wouldn't you know it- he does know and
did acknowledge just this-

"WE ALL HARBOR STEREOTYPES, HE SAID. THAT DOSEN'T MAKE US
BAD PEOPLE. IT'S SIMPLY POINTING OUT THAT, AND BY THE WAY,
THE CONTEXT IN WHICH I STATED IT WAS FEAR OF YOUNG BLACK
MEN ON THE STREETS. THAT'S NOT EVEN UNIQUE TO WHITE PEOPLE."

Thank you Laysay. You see, people who are really interested in the issues and this election, will take the time to judge for themselves by following a speech or an article in depth. Fortunately, it seems like more people are doing this and are getting it right/

It's good to see that you were able to see beyond and sitting back and looking at the entire paragraph, instead of a line.

Yes, but in the original statement, he never said "young black men" when he mentioned "typical white person." He said "someone she didn't know" which could be a person of any color -- and he never mentioned "older" people either until he clarified his clarification.

Considering his speaking ability is his greatest asset, I'm rather disappointed that it took him three tries to make a point.

And your point is what. Let's not break it down. This will lead us into an entirely different topic. And we'll going to have go back to the first slave ships that landed in America to Jena. Let's not go there.
