Make no mistake.
This is a one-issue election, and gentrification is the issue.

The working poor want livable wages, decent housing they can afford, and hold hopes for their kids to do better than them.

These issues don't have the same importance everywhere or to the same degree.

Ocasio is no new rising star who will take over the Democratic party, and it doesn't matter where she was raised or her family's situation. She simply saw those issues as her own, and decided to try to do something about them. She won because she was paying attention, and her opponent wasn't.

There's nothing special in that. Other folks run for the first time for exactly the same reason, even if the issue differs.

Yes remember the 'rent is too damn high' party? The problem is that these candidates tend not to understand econ 101, and their 'fixes' only make the problems worse. Ocasio Cortez has a degree in econ from Boston U. I wonder what kind of econ they are teaching there....

I guess no surprise here. Most of America's most vocal leftists, social justice warriors, socialists and leading Democrats all ride around in limousines.
Yorktown Heights is a mix of middle class to upper middle class, it certainly isn't one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the U.S, not even remotely close. The house she grew up in is far from exclusive....

the possibility exists, though it is a far outside chance, like the moon will likely tumble down to earth before a republican wins that district. however the possibility does exist. if the two favorites split the vote, the long shot could come through the middle and squeak out a win.

Crowley COULD beat her; that's how Lisa Murkowski pulled it off in Alaska. So it COULD happen.

But Ima still laugh if Alexandria loses - to anyone!

the difference though is that murkowski actively ran for office as a write in candidate, it seems crowley wont be doing that, unless alexandria pushed the wrong buttons in her campaign.
