You don't have to. Kamala, Booker, etc. new endorsed Medicare For All.
It was Bernie's bill and the pressure he brought that got democrats on board.

"In 1970, three proposals for single-payer universal national health insurance financed by payroll taxes and general federal revenues were introduced in the U.S. Congress. In February 1970, Representative Martha Griffiths (D-MI) introduced a national health insurance bill—without any cost sharing—developed with the AFL–CIO. In April 1970, Senator Jacob Javits (R-NY) introduced a bill to extend Medicare to all—retaining existing Medicare cost sharing and coverage limits—developed after consultation with Governor Nelson Rockefeller (R-NY) and former Johnson administration HEW Secretary Wilbur Cohen. In August 1970, Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) introduced a bipartisan national health insurance bill—without any cost sharing—developed with the Committee for National Health Insurance founded by United Auto Workers (UAW) president Walter Reuther, with a corresponding bill introduced in the House the following month by Representative James Corman (D-CA). In September 1970, the Senate Labor and Public Welfare Committee held the first congressional hearings in twenty years on national health insurance."

You still think Bernie invented this idea?
I never said that and you keep going back 20-30 years. It didn't have wide spread support anytime recently until Bernie's campaign.
If you can not understand what I am saying and pretend the party was where Bernie was on healthcare before 2016, then we have nothing more to talk about.
Obama often times noted that he was NOT interested in Universal Health Care, and we saw that to be true.
Medicare for all isnt Universal health care. Or at least, it isnt what Obama wast talking about in that context. So you are purposefully taking his quote out of context.

Obama wasn't interested either way. He preferred to sell our health care down the river to the insurance and pharmaceutical companies for campaign cash.
That's not the argument but it's what you have to continue to fall back on. It's a common rebuttal technique.
It was the argument, as the person being responded to claimed any Democrat who has the idea now must have gotten it from Bernie Sanders. He was wrong.
Democrats from all parts of the party have supported things like medicare for all or a national government run insurance program and have done so for decades.

you purposefully misquoted him to attack him. next time just be honest.

The democrats were not talking about Medicare for all before Bernie, not a single major 2020 candidate was.
You can lie and say that was Bernie inventing the issue, something I did not say. But then you’d be against Obama who recently called Medicare for all as a new idea.
