Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is giving it another go, launching a second campaign for the White House four years after surprising Democrats with a strong bid for the party's 2016 nomination.

"We began the political revolution in the 2016 campaign, and now it's time to move that revolution forward," the independent senator told Vermont Public Radio in an interview airing Tuesday morning.

But this 2020 bid will undoubtedly be a very different presidential campaign than his quest for the Democratic nomination as an underdog in 2016. Sanders enters the race as a top contender who, along with former Vice President Joe Biden, tops most early polls, far outpacing other Democratic candidates in support and name identification.

It's a sharp contrast from when Sanders seemingly came out of nowhere to surprise the political class — and at times himself — by winning several key primaries against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Buoyed by a big early win in New Hampshire, Sanders fought Clinton for the Democratic nomination through the final June contests, drawing tens of thousands of supporters to rallies in the process.

While I like Sanders he’s getting up there in age. He’s 77 so if something happens to him, his VP of course becomes president. Guess it will come down to he picks as his VP. 🤔

Bernie has just undermined all of his clones in the 2020 democrat presidential nomination field. Stay tuned. This should be interesting.

Bernie is delusional if he thinks he can win this thing, all he is doing is setting up the Democratic party for another failure. He really needs to step off and let a new generation of leaders emerge and do the work.

Personally, I don't think he's going to do nearly as well has he did when his only competition was Hillary and he was pretty much getting the backing of the "Anyone but Hillary" crowd.

No doubt CNN is opening up space for their resident Kamala Harris pal to write a hit piece on Bernie over his age, race and gender while digging up 2016 memes about him being anti-minority and anti-woman.

Only question is whether they leave off "opinion" from the article.

Why is he setting them up for failure? Is it going to divert DNC resources to sabotage his campaign like last time?

If he had not been undermined by the very group that was suppose to be neutral in helping various candidates, he might very well have won the nomination. But because the DNC was in bed with, if not outright controlled by Hillary, he was doomed from the start.
Even so, he came close.

Now that Hillary is presumably no longer in control of the DNC, he might have a decent shot at winning.
Considering who is currently running (not including Biden), he has a bigger following than all of them combined.

Because he can't win. His age and hard left stance will go against him. (IMHO) Like it or not, Hillary was a safer bet for the DNC and she did win the popular vote so....
