Good luck with that. I don't see very many honest politicians left in our government. The new ones that have just been elected will be tainted very soon by the ones currently in office. It's sad to see newly-elected politicians with stars in their eyes and really wanting to do something to help our government ending up letting money rule them.

When the people that wouldn't vote GOP for any reason tell republicans what they should do, only the fool will take the advice. Can't blame the democrats looking to attract such fools. Their party is full of fools and any new ones will fit right in, without a ripple in the collective.
Well, they wouldn't let me rep you again. Sad. Yes, I am highly amused by the sudden concern trolling from the commies. OTOH, it does support the theory that there is in fact a UNI-Party, two sides of the same lousy coin. So there could actually be a bit of panic over what happens when the opposition disappears.

I hope the Freedom Caucus peels off from the republicans. I would support them. I'm a huge fan of Matt Gaetz.

Pogue, not to worry, it won't end up there.

I hope they do as well. It would serve a dual purpose. It would further weaken the GOP as it stands now, and it would allow for some sanity to start to return to the party.

Trump is going to run for a third term then? Because that is where every single other politician, dem and rep alike, is intending to lead us, or will be bullied in to leading us regardless of their intentions. Any politician who isn't with the program or can't be pressured in to going along with it will get the Trump treatment. Or did you really think the opposition to him was about "Russian collusion"? Nobody gives a rat's ass about supposed Russian collusion, least of all the left and the Rinos.

And really what has changed under Trump? Skyrocketing debt and trade deficits, D.C still filled with corporate lobbyists and special interests, jobs still being shipped offshore, automation taking jobs away, illegal immigrants still coming in either by land or planes. Yea, you got a couple of Conservative Justices, but that could happen under any Republican administration. What makes Trump unique? He hasn't kept any of his core promises and he hasn't changed the direction of this country. But he sure can talk the talk like nobody else! He just can't deliver.

He should have won in 2012. He WOULD'VE won 2012. Had he not blown it at the last minute with his infamous 47% diatribe.

I hope so too.

Not only would losing a Republican primary challenge be the ultimate political karma for the most unfit man ever to hold the office, but it would be a step in the right direction for the GOP toward regaining some semblance of legitimacy, as well as a long overdue rebuke of those Trump supporters who have no idea what our country stands for.

The media is always talking about how Trumps' base is eroding but what is the alternative?

The question is if the voters that support Trump are disappointed in him does the Left really think that they will cross over to the dark side and line up to vote for a Democrat especially when given the choice of the current crop of extreme Lefties??

We have many that vote for a party not for the person and those people are not going to change their positions over some negative news stories from CNN.

I see the election in 2020 gearing up to be historic.

The more the Lefty media tells us how bad Trump is the more determined his base becomes and the more extreme the Left becomes the more they will be actually contributing to Trumps reelection.

Will we even have a choice in 2020?
I think it depends on the reasons they voted for him in the first place. I don't expect most to turn Democrat, no, although I think some Dems who decided to give him a change may return to the fold. I do think there are people who voted more against Clinton than for Trump, and many of them would probably welcome a saner alternative, but then, that's just my opinion.

It was Barry, Meaux and Curly (the Clintons and their poster child Obama) who with help from their clique of Ivy League and Seven Sisters** alumnae are trying to reshape the rebellious American Experiment into a socialist collective farm.

Enough of the people they castigate as "deplorables" -- the people who hold down the jobs you elitists don't want to dirty your hands with -- saw through this in 2016 and, unless the Democrats succeed in stuffing the ballot box with help from their illegal-immigrant and Snowflake allies, we're prepared to defend our interests again.

Either path spells trouble for the GOP. I halfway expect a new party to develop.
The Republicans have probably lost more of their base to the Libertarians than to any other party, and with the exception of a small number of grass-heads, I know very few libertarians who have anything in common with the Democrats.
