Packing the courts would be just desserts for Republican greed. A 5-4 conservative majority isn't good enough. They want to have their cake and eat it too. They claim they don't want a 4-4 divided court if any decisions need to be made by the SCOTUS in regards to the election. Ok... why wasn't this a problem in 2016? Why was the reasoning in 2016 to "let the people decide" yet the people aren't worthy of that trust in 2020?
I think there's many reasons why from late September until now that Biden's lead in the polls have gone up from 6.1 to 10.5. It is a combination of Independents, Democrats and even some Republicans seeing the debate and recognizing that the dementia attack on Biden was bogus. It was that Trump really didn't offer a plan for the next four years. Some of that bump might be from many Americans recognizing Trump's brazen disregard for mitigating the coronavirus invited it into the White House and many other high-level politicians. And some of it is also due to some Americans out there with a "fair is fair" attitude about the SCOTUS nomination.
You don't do something just because you can. If that was the American way, George Washington's great great great grandson would be President/King today. Republicans can keep their 5-4 majority by simply following their own precedent. If they don't, let the specter of packing the court be over their heads.
The only folks that give a rat's about this are Trump supporters who aren't going to vote for Biden anyway. Give it a rest, nobody but you cares...
