Yes but the media will report that he's vetong the tax increase because he's in bed with the oil companies, not because of the fact that it will raise the price of oil.. again..

Speculators driving up the price of oil are creating a bubble that will eventually burst. Real esate, dot com or what ever it always happens when investors out distance fundemental values of markets

This one ain't gonna BURST. The price may go down some but the days of gas for even $2.50 a gallon are GONE.

I am not a fan of the oil industry but 2 wrongs never make a right and the government is so wrong when it comes to energy policy. They are completely out of touch with the rest of the world when it comes to energy and how to best get it.

I also think we are purposely not exploring our oil filed potential because we want it to be there when the rest of the world runs out. I know, sounds like a conspiracy!
Okay so lets say they vote to allow drilling in Alaska. You won't see any oil or gas actually come out of their for at least 10 years. So how the hell is that gonna make a difference today can you tell me that. And most professionals state that it may save us 1 cent at the pumps. Big Deal. They have to turn their focus on alternatives and this should have been done years and years ago. But what do you except when you vote in an oil man as President.

We drill in ANWR, the benefit won't be seen for at least 10-15 years, you are correct about that. Our only realistic hope in overcoming this crisis are electrical hybrids. The Prius gets 40 plus miles to the gallon. The Camry hybrids get well over 30 miles. GM is working on a model that will run entirely on electricity..I think it's called the Chevy Volt. It will not be completed until 2010, so that means it won't be even semi-affordable until 12 or 13. The other option is the hydrogen cell, but that's years away. You're right, we squandered years of potential development for alternative fuel sources, now it's time to pay the piper.

Thanks for the laugh tonight.. You do understand that big oil pays over $100BILLION a year in taxes?

What do you think is "fair"?

this is a tax on profit, it wont affect us, oil companies cant raise their prices because of tax, back when oil was a buck a gallon, they werent even making a profit, yet it was still a dollar a gallon

What would be considered a 'fair' share?

"Exxon paid or remitted $20 billion in various sales taxes, excise taxes, severance taxes, and property taxes. This brings the total amount of taxes the company paid or remitted to $29.3 billion, nearly three times the net profits it earned for shareholders. The financial statements of two other large U.S.-based oil companies, ConocoPhillips and ChevronTexaco, show similar large tax payments. Indeed, these three companies paid or remitted a combined $47.8 billion in taxes in the first quarter of 2008, nearly $28 billion more than they earned in net profits."

Edison and Ford designed and built an electric car years ago to replace the gasoline one. The only item they left us, was to perfect the battery.
