The 3rd special election loss in normally "safe" Republican districts [i.e. Mississippi] to Democrats has the GOP in a dreadful mood with the anticipation that the worst is yet to come in November. McCain is trying to convince the electorate that he is not Bush but the anti-Bush sentiment in the nation only gets worse by the day.

Republicans will find that the branches of government [Congress & White House] will not be very welcoming to them & that Bush is to blame. One Republican operative said that the GOP is facing more losses than even after Nixon was removed from the presidency.

Here's an article:

Who's the Republican party BS-ing, if Obama gets the nomination McCain wins, and McCain knows it.

If they are worrying its because of Clinton.

I think the republicans are having alot to do behind the scenes of this election even with parties swinging the bat both ways. Believe it.

Then why in the world is McCain very publicly stating that he will continue the Bush agenda?

I do not think so.

There are too many issues with the republican party.

They have won the last few elections based on the religious platform of gay marriage and pro life. Where as there where many immoral issues going on with the administration.

The Fox news/Shawn Hanity/Rush Limbaugh media are ruining the credibility of the party with their games (operation chaos) and irresponsible journalism.

The party can't go on like it is and win. The sad part about it is they don't see the error in their ways.

The Republicans have had a long turn at the wheel, and they've driven America into the ditch. They've held the White House for 28 of the last 40 years. They've held congress for 12 of the last 14 years. They have a working majority in the Supreme Court. They've had practically everything their way for a long time now.

What have they improved?

What has deteriorated under their "leadership"?

Ahh, we're in the blame Republicans for the worlds problems mode again..

I guess all of the environmental regulations have nothing to do with the high price of gas...

Since Democrats have held Congress for the last 2 years, and have done NOTHING.. your argument holds no water.

Yes - manipulating the faithful with talking point distractions and pandering to that bottomless pit of rage and fear. Keep the home ulcers burning, keep us divided. It's brilliant and at least as of Fall 2007 it's still working - Talk radio ratings as of Fall 2007

But since 1996, so many thoughtful Republicans have been drawing away in contempt and confusion from the ugly, trashy talk-radio edge of conservativism, of which GWB was the poster boy. So many say "I don't recognize my own party." And so, interestingly, many in that group are looking toward Obama this election as, well, the only candidate who offers hope and change. Hence, Republicans for Obama

There is only one part McCain has to worry about that is the Ron Paul Vote.

Many of the Republicans have not done what the people who voted for them expected them to do, so they lost their support. It's not about fringe issues or about talk radio.
