Pretty much everyone I ever knew who joined the Peace Corps was a super, duper, flaming lefty liberal.

It is a fantastic idea. Young people can get exposure to the world and serve something outside of their own personal lives. They will come back better people and make our society better as a whole for it.
The world can get positive exposire to the positive energy and ideals of American youth and see a side of America other than just the military-industrial complex which is the reason our international reputation sucks so much today.

Sounds like a win-win.

so....how many of you are signing up?

I'm not an Obama supporter so count me out.

What I will sign up for is the freedom to not vote for this man, his campaign is a joke and it's amazing to me that he's made it this far. People will fall for anything these days I guess.

Nope.

One, they're too content in their own lives...and

Two, the military isn't a place to become rich...and that's all they care about.

"Why waste my talents, when I could become rich?"

you don't feel compelled to answer, yet, you did. priceless.

There are currently almost 3 million volunteers in Bush's army (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard) and between 9/11 several million more cycled through the ranks. I dare say very few of those were liberals. But for my age I'd have been one of those volunteers.

What a horrible, misinformed thing to say.

I know plenty of your so-called "liberals" that signed up after 9/11.
