KLDanford:

I did misread your post. What I said was not a rant though. I live in a community where the majority of the people are black. I said that most of the black people in this area are voting for Obama because he is black. They have talked about this on the news. Do you live in Memphis?
As far as Obama calling himself African American....I was not singling him out. He is the Democratic candidate (high profile) and many people are overly excited about him being the first African American to be nominated. It should not be about whether he is black or white. He is not qualified to run our country. The man has been running for president more days than he has spent in the senate!! He has no real government experience and if he is elected we will become a socialist country.
As far as McCain goes, I could care less that he is POW. I have heard his story and know a lot about the man. While he was a POW being tortured, he refused release because he did not want to leave his fellow soliders behind who had been there even longer. He made it through each day looking forward to going home. He gives all the credit of saving his life to the United States...the country he loves. He has spent every day since working to make it a better place. Yes, we have been through many rough patches in our history...but not because of him alone. McCain is not George Bush!!!
If you want to live in a socialist country vote for Obama. If you went to college (or not) and have worked hard to earn a nice living...you make over a certain amount of money and don't mind being robbed blind in taxes...vote for Obama. Then, if you want your money being distributed to people who refuse to work or want to live off the government...vote for Obama. He makes it all sound so sweet....he is a superstar you know.
I have yet to figure out why Democrats think the government owes them. You have to pay taxes to make this country work...yes lower taxes would be better. The Dems think the government should help take care of them. Its called get a job and learn to support yourself and your family. This is the country where dreams can come true, but you have to work for it. I do not want the Dems taking all of my hard earned money to pay for someone who wants to drink all day and live in a homeless shelter or to support people who take advantage of the wellfare system. I am all for helping people....but you have to learn to help yourself. You cannot rely on Big Brother to take care of you. If you do then Big Brother will be watching your every move. To me Obama is a very scary person.....he has oozed some sort of love potion and all the Dems have sucked it right in and are living in a fog.

I think you are a very scary person. You have fallen hook, line and sinker for the neoCONs' reactionary party line. Where is the logic in any of what you say? I have heard that BS about homeless shelters and all ever since Ronald Reagan was running for President. The only reason we have so many homeless is that the conservatives' failed trickle-down economics have encouraged jobs to hightail it out of the country. People lose good jobs and can't even find a way to take care of thenselves. This country is going to hell, and the Bush/McCain axis is naively and stupidly pushing it that way faster and faster.

What does that have to do with anything? No, i don't live in Memphis. I live in HARLEM.

if he is elected we will become a socialist country.
Wow. Delusional.

While he was a POW being tortured, he refused release because he did not want to leave his fellow soliders behind who had been there even longer. He made it through each day looking forward to going home. He gives all the credit of saving his life to the United States...the country he loves. Okay, first of all let's stop making mccain out as the martyr figure. I'm very sorry for him that he endured that. it was very unlucky. But you know what? you guys can say over and over he refused release, etc, but you always leave out the part about how he cooperated with his captors and gave them US government information. Hey, I'm not even faulting him that - i bet a lot of us would talk under threat of torture. BUT my point is that he is not this mythical figure who suffered for the sins of the world.
Second of all, McCain HAS BECOME George Bush? Are you not aware that he has done a 180 on virtually ALL his old, "maverick" positions and aligned himself with the Bush administration????????? I actually used to respect mccain a lot. But he sold out.

If you want to live in a socialist country vote for Obama.
You cannot make ignorant statements like that without at least attempting to back them up. So where's your proof? Rush Limbaugh? Hannity? I want to know.

not want the Dems taking all of my hard earned money to pay for someone who wants to drink all day and live in a homeless shelter or to support people who take advantage of the wellfare system. I am all for helping people....but you have to learn to help yourself.
GIven your preceeding statements, you obviously are NOT for helping people. You appear to lump everyone who needs help into the category of "lazy degenerates" while that is just not true. Maybe thats just a convenient belief for you to hold so you don't feel bad about wanting to hoard your money.

You cannot rely on Big Brother to take care of you. If you do then Big Brother will be watching your every move.
HOLY **** I can't BELIEVE you just said that!!!!! ARe you aware of the country in which you live???? BIG BROTHER??!?!!?! The Bush administration and the neocons - ahem, the group which McCain has now embraced wholeheartedly, IS Big Brother. Ever hear of the Patriot act? THanks to the REPUBLICANS, our ever move is already being watched! Where have you been? Everything you look at on the internet, every book you check out in the library, every phone call... it's all fair game under this fascist administration.

First of all....you are being very insulting to me directly....I was not insulting you.
What do you think Democrats are basically for - more government control....you want your health care paid for, you want your retirement paid for, you are inviting more government control....that, my dear, is Socialism...look it up!!!
Obama/Biden are wanting to have people making over $250,000 a year pay more in taxes. Do you have any clue as to what that does to our economy? You are talking about doctors (including dentists, surgeons and specialists) who have paid hundreds of thousands to go through medical school....most make over $250, 000 - they will be heavily taxed...these are people who take care of us and we need!!! You are also talking about lawyers (yes some are bad) but we need them. You are talking about many Engineering Firms, Architect Firms, many many business owners throughout this country. If they are being so heavily taxed then how are their businesses going to survive? How we will have any growth in the economy? Do you think any of these people are going to be investing their money in the stock market? NO!! Think about the effects and not just what it means to give a temporary fix to the lower income citizens. It will be temporary!! Obama has no real plans other than putting more of your money, and what you do with it, into the hands of the government.
As far as the Big Brother thing. There is a difference between the government watching what you do with every penny you earn and watching out for the well being of our citizens. The Patriot Act was created to prevent something like 9-11 from happening again!! If you will read up on it...both Dems and Reps voted in favor of it!!! By the way, if you did know anything about the Patriot Act, you would know that it gives the government access to certain types of records of SUSPECTED persons.....they are not pulling your file or records unless they have reason. Do you know if they would have been doing this before 9-11 they would have been able to stop many of the terrorists who were here training for the 9-11 attacks. One of the pilots was training in my own backyward in Norman, OK - a college town in the mid-west!!! No one even knew it. He came over here and had our people teach him how to fly a 747!!!! He killed thousands of people!
If you live in Harlem....then you are right there near NYC....you should be aware of this more than many people around the nation. You are still so close to areas of target for terrorism and yet you sit here and bash the very people who are out to protect you. But, you don't want them to know if someone if looking up bomb making, how to join Alkida, or even kiddy porn - which they are also cracking down on. We are not living in the 60s....we are in 2008 where reality is sick!!!
Last, I am all for helping people in need. I donate regularly to Domestic violence shelters, churches, schools, St. Jude Research Hospital, Diabetes, The American Heart Association, Cancer research funds, and I give my time. I have donated a lot and will continue to. I am not for paying my hard earned dollars to those individuals who refuse to work and expect to live off the government. I already pay taxes to cover wellfare....which needs reformed because there are too many people taking advantage of the system.
I think it is your perogitive if want a country where your money goes to the government, if want the government in control of your healthcare choices, if you want a government who gives terrorist suspects and child preditors their privacy, if you want a government who will shut down the economy when the wealthier people will no longer shop or invest, if you want to live like you are in the 60s where people think abortions are fine and there should never be war...only love...then you can try to live in that world.....I do not want a part of that. Seems to me like the Dems are always the ones b****ing about the government, yet you want them to give them more control. Good luck!!!
PS. Don't you have a masters degree? In what....Community Organizing!!!!!!!!!!

I think there should be a distinction made between socialists and corporate socialists.
