Absolutely right. That is why so many Retirees become transplants. They take their wealth earned in the higher cost North East and relocate to less expensive and usually less dense areas. Until the housing bubble broke it was the norm to cash out and head out.

The point of McCain's 5 Million was that he would like to see all income classes pay less taxes. He would like to see people keep more of their own money, to have an opportunity to get rich, if that's what they desire.

Good lord people, we have a 3 TRILLION dollar economy. Why should we give more to the government, which consistently displays how inept, corrupt and inefficient they are in running things. They deserve much less of our money.

The dems/libs rely on the class warfare page of their playbook to pit one class against the other, and they always have.

250K must be examined in light of tax filing status/joint v individula. Remember a married couple filing individually with income of 249K each would not meet the threshold but a couple each earning 125K filing jointly would. This of course is after deductions etc etc etc. Also a spouse not working married to a worker making 250K does not have the social security and 401K and possible pension benefits her spouse would have. Divorce has ruined the wealth status of many a non working wife especially in retirement.

AGORA Entertainment & I.O.U.S.A.
.O.U.S.A. boldly examines the rapidly growing national debt and its consequences for the United States and its citizens. As the Baby Boomer generation prepares to retire, will there even be any Social Security benefits left to collect? Burdened with an ever-expanding government and military, increased international competition, overextended entitlement programs, and debts to foreign countries that are becoming impossible to honor, America must mend its spendthrift ways or face an economic disaster of epic proportions.

Who provides the jobs since small business (under 100 employees) is 70% of the jobs in America? What incentive is there to start a new business if taxes are/will be so far leaning.
How McCain and Obama will change your tax bill - Jun. 11, 2008

The only people getting a significant raise in taxes will be 600k+, which even in Manhattan, I would consider "Rich".

Yes, I agree. For the majority of the US - $250k is rich. A very small minority of the country would be considered middle/upper class at that income level, and I'd consider it to be by choice (living in Manhattan and having to utilize private schools/high rent vs. moving to a suburb).

There is a fundamental misunderstanding here.

America has absolutely nothing to do with punishing achievement.

It was not founded on that concept. It has not followed that concept through history.

Some might even say it has a name.....

The American dream

Tried to give you rep points, but I've gotta spread the love! I TOTALLY agree with your comments. No one should be penalized for getting an education and working hard.
