His kids aren't that much older.....in fact, I think they may be younger (though certainly not as young as Trig). Anyways, you honestly think a down syndrom baby is harder to deal with then the death of a wife and mother? And a drawn out death at that?!

I also don't think I said that she should retire altogether from politics, but having chosen to take on a special needs child, that child should come first in the families lives, not last to be taken care of by a nanny. This is not about putting food on the table and providing for the family. This is a choice she is making and it is about realizing political ambition and wanting the top job.

Personally I think that with a special needs baby that they CHOSE to bring into the world, PLUS a prgnant teen, they have made the choice as to what should be more important to them.

This is pure selfish ambition.

Perhaps I would be more inclined to overlook the family side of things if I thought she was even remotely qualified to handle the job at hand. But as I don't think she is qualified, and I do think that this will be an enormous struggle for her, it comes across as even more selfish of her to have brought this baby into the world. Frankly I think it sucks. She needs to consider where her priorities lie.

No, this is a witch hunt by a bunch of self absorbed liberal women
I find it totally bigoted for this kind of comments.
Pitiful!

So why doubt palins ability to cope? Hasn't she be governing alaska since the baby was born? Last I check, alaska is not on the brink of financial ruin like (male run) california.

How dare you attack this woman because she does not fit in your box!
Actually I am not a huge Obama supporter, although I do think he is better than McCain.
We have the right of free speech in this country, so it really doesn't take much to 'dare' to ask questions about the different candidates. In fact it is a sensible thing to do.

It's not a witch hunt by anyone. We're politely and calmly discussing a timely issue. You might try it sometime.

Maybe as VP she will have more influence and have the ability to help put more research towards solving problems like down syndrome.

When edwards was running he had small children and a terminally ill wife -- that was seen as acceptable. Nobody asked 'what if elizabeth dies while he is potus, then who will take care of the children?'...why is that?
I see the concern, I really do. I a woman who made the choice to stay at home with her children and I do think that is the best way to go. At the same time, if a woman is barred from becoming vpotus because she has children at home.....that sets up a very bad precedence for all other women. Can a woman be the president of a fortune 500 company if she has minor children? Can a woman be an astronaut if she has minor children? Can a woman be a police officer, a fire fighter, a doctor, a lawyer, an office worker if she has minor children? Do you see the slippery slope this argument can take? I made my choice, and I hope that people will not start taking my daughters choice of career from them.

these women that are trying to act "comcerned" is bull
they are so small minded I can not believe it!
What a bunch of twits!!

There you have it - If it was Hillary, most would keep their comments to themselves about a child with Down's Syndrome.

I don't agree with all of Palins Family issues and such, I just hate to see her being scrutinized because of her child.
