What were the republicans thinking when they chose McCain to run for President? Where they thinking that the Dems need to take charge or that they have had enough of Iraq or that they want to see how easily reps can be fooled. Whatever their "logic" they are beginning to look extremely desperate now. The Dems did the same thing in 2004 with Kerry. Obama is virtually assured of winning the Presidency as long as he doesn't get dragged into the Republican "cat house" brawl and name calling that they call Politics.

A year ago, the assumption was that Mitt Romney would take the primaries - no sweat, much like a year ago . . . DEMS assumed Hillary Clinton would be their candidate.

So that is what happened - it didn't work out for either party the way everyone assumed it would (wh/ just goes to show - political pundits and media commentators don't always get it right, LOL).

America is, on balance, a conservative country, so for the Obama campaign to have any confidence of a win they need to be well ahead on November 4th. If the polls are still statistically tied when the polls open election day then McCain will win the election. Because when undecideds ponder their choice alone in the voting booth they're going to ask themselves is Obama really all that? Am I comfortable with his natural inclination towards appeasement? Do I feel good about how he's looked down on me? Can we afford his European form of socialism? Obviously the choice is no choice. McCain wins. Guaranteed.

I agree anifan. It's like listening to the pundits now. They will give you what makes the best headlines. I personally think that Obama will be the better choice for America and McCain will be the better choice for anyone who wants to capitalize from the current downturn in America's Economy. If McCain gets in, i can go buy some more Foreclosures but i would prefer that America becomes financially strong again and gets a Health Service that is for ALL America not just the wealthy. McCain in his speech last night proved that War is his strongpoint (going to war not, preventing it) and that his Health care solution is just for "More American's" not ALL Americans.

Look at this thread and see who is doing all the namecalling - the DEMS. Your post is laughable.

There is namecalling in both sides but the venom is from the Republicans. Is it because of desperation? who knows but it is a fact. When i watched the 2004 election the Reps. were on the recieving end of some extremely stupid and hostile attacks. This election, the Reps seem to think that the hostile stupid attacks will win the day. It Won't.

I don't think the GOP had a lot to pick from except perhaps Romney. They are out of Bush's and who do they have up-coming. That is why they are soo excited by Palin she will be the new up coming. THe problem is that she isn't running for President and in no way is ready. Obama will win and most likley do two terms. Then my guess is that Hillary will run again against Palin or Romney

Judging from the posts here, the venom and the desperation is on the Dem side. Palin is scaring you guys to death.
