Since Obama is going to lose in November do you think it is because he chose Joe Biden instead of Hillary? After all Biden even said Hillary would of been a better pick. Thoughts?

Biden is an excellent choice for VP, far better than Palin for the Republicans. If Obama loses this election, it will be because:

1) The DNC did not force Clinton out when it was obvious she couldn't win. This kept Obama from preparing for McCain and having more time to properly draft his plans or the problems which plague this country.

2) Clinton made McCain's job easier by fighting Obama as long as allowed. McCain sat back while Clinton criticized Obama after she knew she had no chance. Shame on her and those sour grapes.

3) The Democrats failed to embrace Obama early and showed doubt until Hillary "suspended" her campaign. This lessened him in the eyes of the nation.

4) Obama spent far too much time and energy trying to pacify Clinton's crybaby supporters who would not fall in line for the party's nominee. If they don't show solidarity behind their own party's nominee, why should he win?

5) People in this country really preferred a continuation of Bush policies after all. All this poll talk about Bush's record low approval ratings meant nothing.

6) People in this country are idiotic, unable to recognize a good candidate when they see one in Obama.

7) People in this country would rather continue Bush's bad policies through McCain rather than see a black man in office. The racial divide continues.

8) People in this country no longer prefer substance, but prefer fluff.

9) Democrats didn't vote.

10) People are stupid enough to think that Palin's addition to the ticket made people forget about the 8 years of Republican crap that McCain and Palin would like to continue.

There is a significant chance that Obama will lose in November, but not because he picked Biden.

Obama may lose in November because he lacks credibility and he seems to lack full support of the party that sponsors him, apparently with the intent of dominating him and the policy agenda should he get elected. This sums up four points laid out by the above poster.

In general, though the democrats should be way ahead, they may actually may lose these elections overall, including falling short of significant majorities in one or both branches of Congress, simply because, even at the level of rhetoric, the democrats are simply not in touch with the best of US traditions.

Worth repeating: the democrats, even at the level of rhetoric, are simply not in touch with the best of US traditions.

If Obama loses this election, it means that America (or should I say her people) still has some sense left. It won't have anything to do with Biden one way or the other......in my opinion.

There were speculations that the Clintons didn't support Barack up to the DNC -- and even now.

I doubt that the many who claim to be supporters of Clinton and are now voting McCain will vote for Obama/Clinton.

Biden did not.
I just keep thinking that the debates will shake people out of their personality cult BS.
McCain's campaign manager says "this election is not about issues" because they have nothing to run on, while Obama does.
The debates will give the American people, who I do think will tune in, a chance to see what their candidates are really made of.

For one thing, Obama is not going to lose this election...so Joe Biden didn't "cost" him anything! I look forward to them working together come January 2009.

I disagree with the premise that Obama will lose the election. The reason Obama and McCain are running even in the polls currently is the novelty that Sarah Palin brings to the McCain ticket. In a culture that is obssessed with "the new new thing", the Palin draw is no surprise. It's the same dynamic that catapulted Barack Obama to celebrity status. Once the novelty wears off, the McCain/Palin poll numbers will go down.

A different analogy would be a car wreck. People crowd around the site of a car wreck out of curiosity. They want to see some graphic sights out of cheap thrills. Sarah Palin is the latest car wreck to happen on your street. Hence the large crowds in her rallies. Nobody wants to see the John McCain car wreck anymore, they've seen that mess already, and it has reached the point of "diminishing marginal utility". But the Sarah Palin car wreck is fresh and new, with blood just beginning to ooze out of the body.
