There are few "moderate conservatives" left. The Republicans have done a good job or purging such people. There used to be some- even Nixon was "moderate" by today's GOP standards.

But no conservatives are labeled as simply "right" or "conservative". What's the difference?
The social stuff.
Some people think that imposing their religious based views on everyone else is more important
than actually governing the country let alone for the general welfare of all.
It tends to clutter up the process and make labels confusing.

There are a lot of differences in my mind: there are those who are very extreme, many are part of the religious right, which is very different from those of us that are moderately conservative. We can see two sides to many stories, believe in equal rights, lowering taxies, keeping the government out of our lives, states rights but we are not over the edge. For those who think there are not many of us around, little do you know. Probably over 1/2 the Republicans fall somewhere in this category.

Not totally accurate. The TP are a minority of even House Repubs, and there will be fewer in the next House,as we'll see the RNC fund mainstream candidates as they emulate the great success they had in purging the Alabama RINO, a/k/a TP candidate.
The TP members will get more vocal as they see their numbers dwindle, as quite frankly, they stand no shot against RNC funding. A long overdue RNC move.

There are no conservative or moderate democrats anymore. JFK would be conservative by today's standards.

Where are you getting your information? Except for Tea Party GOPers it seems like all the GOP believes in big government.

If the RNC does this, and I think you are correct, there will be a lot of demcrats being elected in those races because the Tea Party folks will stay home, like they did with Romney. I voted for Romney, McCain and Dole, but I am done. No more RINOs
