I agree it was a draw but I think at this point in the election process undecided voters will look more toward the candidates personalities than issues. The people that wait this long to decide tend to be gut voters and the likability of the candidate plays a big part in that.
Interesting observation. I do think personality may play a big part for a lot of voters, wh/ always surprises me. I am more interested in a candidate's stance on issues and also - record. But I have noticed it seems a lot of people are more influenced by personality and demeanor.
I don't think anyone hit it out of the park tonight. I will say that Obama seemed lacking in his delivery. as a previous poster said, he seemed "on the ropes" a few times. No way is McCain a warmonger. he is definitely not looking for it, but would certainly follow through if need be. McCain showed that he does have a lot of experience and has command of all of his faculties(since people think he's too old). I don't think either of them answered the question about the financial bailout and how it would effect their administration.
There was a convenient dodge on this issue, I caught that as well.
As many times as Senator Obama told him he was lying (Senator, John, "that's not TRUE")
Exactly so.
Unlike hotheaded yet slightly dotty/senile McCain, Obama called 'em like he saw 'em...and if there was an agreement, then there was. Obama isn't so powermongering, fearful and dictator-like that he HAS to disagree with his opponent on EVERYTHING just so he can maintain his own sense of identity. So when he agreed...he agreed.
And when he disagreed...he stated so...or tried to amid Captain Senile's bulldozing past the facts.
It is really hard for me to assess this - I didn't see or hear anything I didn't already know before the debate. I've heard all of it before. So to me it was a tie and doesn't change anything. I really what to know how undecided voter viewed it.

This isn't surprising to me, I think demeanor and how a person responds under pressure is critical to many folks. One thing that does bother me with Senator McCain's foreign policy (when they got into it) was Pakistan. He was clearly weaker in this area and on the direct issue of diplomacy and seemed to want to dodge the issue after Senator Obama corrected his view of past statements and his current policy view.
