There's no way in hell that "promoting the general welfare" is a socialist/communist/Marxist idea. Those are totally separate systems of government.
Very fitting that Obama used this phrase as he did teach Constitutional Law for twelve years.

Dude! You have no idea how many web pages I read in a given day, including today! What you have written in the past on this board has made ZERO impression on my mind! Sorry!

Please get thyself into a dictionary. Turn off the Rush and read a couple of legitimate history books.

I can't take it, I'm laughing so hard my kids think I've gone over the edge

ROC was attempting to see how many people think that is a socialist idea with the point being that it is written in the preamble to the constitution. It was expected that SOME people would pounce on the idea as a socialist one, thereby calling the founding fathers socialists as well.

To answer your question, no I do not believe it to be a socialist idea.

When a guy with the handle *rightofcenter* uses the word 'socialism' in a question in the manner you have, you're gonna get tagged with what you deserve! You don't seem to appreciate the degree of ignorance of basic economic terms found throughout this forum on a daily basis!
