This is really scary, from a Republican who worked at Diebold (the voting machine manufacturer)..

Stephen Spoonamore 2008 Interview - “Paper ballots please..” « TheZoo

"Stephen Spoonamore tells us that McBush’s team–i.e., Karl Rove and his henchpersons– have their plan in place to steal this next election: by 51.2% of the popular vote, and three electoral votes. He also talks about the major role played by the Christianist far right in the electronic rigging of the vote.
And he defines our electronic voting system as a major threat to US national security, calling for it to be junked ASAP, in favor of hand-counted paper ballots.
Since Spoon is a Republican and erstwhile McCain supporter, as well as a noted specialist in nosing out computer fraud, his testimony is essential–not only for its expertise, but, no less, for the impact that his views will surely have on those Republicans who have been loath to see what Bush & Co. has done to our election system."

Is anyone else concerned about using electronic voting machines with NO PAPER TRAIL? Who knows what's going on inside that machine and how its been programmed. These machines can be hacked into with ease. How can anyone feel their vote is secure using one of these without a paper confirmation of the votes? How do we count the votes if a recount is necessary (usually triggered by close elections)?

Why has this not been a bigger issue in American politics?

The links below are somewhat related, but these don't speak of the potential security problems with electronic voting machines.

Grep Palast warns of the election being stolen:
The Future of America Has Been Stolen - 10 Zen Monkeys
Quote:
Investigative reporter Greg Palast says 4.5 million votes will be shoplifted in 2008, thanks largely to the “Rove-bots” that have been placed in the Justice Department following the U.S. Attorney firings. Being the guy who uncovered the voter “purge lists” of 2000 that disenfranchised black voters, he’s worth listening to, even if the mainstream press chooses not to.
He speaks of vote suppression here:
" + title + "
Quote:
In swing-state Colorado, the Republican Secretary of State conducted the biggest purge of voters in history, dumping a fifth of all registrations. Guess their color.

In swing-state Florida, the state is refusing to accept about 85,000 new registrations from voter drives – overwhelming Black voters.

In swing state New Mexico, HALF of the Democrats of Mora, a dirt poor and overwhelmingly Hispanic county, found their registrations disappeared this year, courtesy of a Republican voting contractor.

In swing states Ohio and Nevada, new federal law is knocking out tens of thousands of voters who lost their homes to foreclosure.
I agree with you - this kind of thing (vote integrity) should be a much bigger issue.
We shouldn't have to worry that our vote may be counted wrong or not at all.

Vote integrety should start with requiring a legal photo ID to vote. Now we all know who went into a panic when it was suggested voters need to have positive ID.

Right, and in Ohio, the dems are registering illegals, homeless people, dead people, and allowing multiple votes by individuals. Hmmm..Such integrity, honesty, and "change we need."

I love this preelection spin by the lefties.

Are you really so worried about a McCain victory that you have to start the allegations of voter fraud this early? There's still a month to go before the election.

Maybe you should start by looking into actual cases of voter fraud. I would start with the group ACORN.

The polls are rigged with Obama volunteers telling the voters to vote for Obama.

YouTube - Obama Cheating Not An Isolated Incident?

This is the type of corruption/cheating we will see with Obama's leadership.
These people are lawless.

It would not surprise me if Hillary was robbed of votes because of corrupt Obama volunteers.
