Okay, what is with Obama's pronunciation of these two words?! Pakistan which he pronounces "Pokiston" and Taliban which he pronounces "Toleebon"? Is this supposed to be the "educated" way of pronouncing these words?? It's as if he is speaking normally and then his voice switches to someone with an Indian accent. I know this is trivial nitpicking, but it gets annoying......just like Palin's "nyookular".

I know. See, I am criticising my own party too. But seriously, why isn't an attempt made to pronounce these words the way most of America pronounces them?

Next time you hear him talking, notice "Pokeeston" pronounced with an Indian accent

It's probably just to impress people, he figures if he says it differently than normal it will seem to some like that's the correct way to pronounce it, and so he looks more experienced than most on foreign policy.

I find it pompous and annoying.

You are showing your ignorance. It is the correct way to pronounce it.
So, do you think it's cooler to say "betcha" and "doggone it" to connect with the Joe 6 packs? Don't forget about the people who chaw tobacco and fart. There must be a special way of talking to them as well. (wink, wink)

By the way, this is a duplicate thread, which is also annoying. I won't say "gonna" so does that make me pompous? Pronouncing words properly is only annoying if the ears that are hearing them aren't fined tuned.
