a) Well Joe's name according to the AP this morning is actually "Sam" (that is what he goes by too)...
b) he's not actually a plumber (doesn't have a plumber's license even though Ohio requires him to - even working for someone else), has never had schooling or training nor is a member of any plumbing trade orgs)
c) he initially misrepresented his income (he earns about 40k per year, and doesn't have nearly enough money to purchase a company which nets 250-280k in annual profit),
d) he has no small business experience (and also doesn't realize that a company which earns 250k in revenue will actually have much less taxable income at tax time),
e) has no concept that Obama's plan actually is much better than McCain's for 98% of small businesses out there.
f) He is related to the Keating 5 group (research this not so glorious part of McCain's past to learn about it) - Joe the Plumber? More like Joe the Keating Family Operative | Crooks and Liars
g) Joe is a Republican as of this year but was previously a Natural Law Party member.
h) Joe owes back taxes to his state (apparently he is against paying taxes in general).

If you want to read more about where these things were sourced, check out: Joe the Plumber: A Registered Republican but Not a Plumber - Associated Content

I mean seriously folks... one or two of those things being off would be "ok," but this guy with all those things against him has no credibility in my book. He approached Obama and asserted himself into the spotlight to make Obama look bad. The truth is, regardless of whether or not a Republican Group put him up to it as a plant, Sam behaved like one. So no, I don't feel sorry for this fellow. He didn't have to do what he did and approach a major politician on camera with a made up story (and a fake name). That was just foolish. The fact that the media dug up all the "facts" on this guy so quickly to me is a great thing.

I know the bots would like to make this all about Joe and his criminal, sordid past, but that is really a very transparent effort to deflect from the real damage.

"Spread the Wealth" - three little words I'm sure Obama would like to take back.

The intensity and depth of the outrage focused on JTP by the Left, the media and the Obama campaign is very telling.
Absolutely incorrect. The left aren't the ones saying Obama's answer was wrong, bad, etc. The right are, and they weren't going to vote for Obama anyway. Obviously the comment hasn't hurt things any for Obama. No loss.

LOL! Oh the McCain whiners would claim Obama's Acorn pals drove him to the plumber's store to get a fake Plumber's license. And his real name was Jose Muhammed Garcia and he was here in US illegally.

Show McCain the Plumber's crack!

Exactly. Oh, indeed, it would be proven that J'oa b'nai bin Saadam Samuel had a dual plumber's license in both Ohio and Pakistan and that he had plumbed bin Laden dozens of times.

There would even be pictures to prove it.

Quickly followed by a real photo of J'o last Halloween wearing a candy corn outfit, PROVING his Muslim ties due to the fact that orange, yellow and white are middle eastern terrorist secret code colors and the triangle is the universal symbol for capitalist destruction.

Ah-ha! So, you admit "spreading the wealth" makes Obama look bad. Only cause it exposes his true intentions.

Have you watched the tape? Obama approached JTP in a rope line, in Joe's neighborhood, after a door-to-door- photo-op.

His middle name is Joe. You don't know anybody who uses their middle names? Brad Pitt comes to mind.

He's a plumber by definition. Obviously, because that's what he does.

He's been a registered republican since 1992.

Back taxes - so did Obama's treasurer - Nesbitt.

He never stated his income. He said he WANTS to buy a business in the FUTURE that could make 200-250K.

Based on the effort by the media and the Left to damage JTP - you just know they are worried.
McCain put him in the public spotlight by giving out his full name to 60 million viewers, and repeating this several times...what did the media and Democrats have to do with that? And again, on the spread the wealth issue, we are already paying taxes (which "spreads" the wealth); this does not mean it is being paid in a manner that is successful for our country's economy. Just because it is the present system does not mean it is the best system....real wage earnings have dropped for the majority of americans, the highest 1% have seen their real wages increase at a disproportionate rate. Now it is cratering. I, by the way would fit into the 250+ category for a household, but am risking my long-term earnings if this entire thing is not right-sized.

Back to Joe: If Obama had done the same thing everybody in this forum knows that the McCain backers would have been posting with glee the fact that he is not even a licensed plumber (maybe even a terrorist plumber then?), there would have been a myriad of attacks from the McCain supporting sites attacking him as a deadbeat who doesn't even pay his current fair share of taxes, and that Obama is now trying to ensure that he will never have to...BUT YOU AND I WILL NOW COVER IT IN THE OBAMA SOCIALIST REGIME (sooooo scary)...or I could be wrong. Maybe those same news sources would instead be adamantly defending the poor guy for simply being a working class hero telling it like it is, and applaud Obama's reference...yeah....ummmm...ok....

Not so. Every american knows by now that higher marginal taxes will apply if you make over $250k/yr. This was a nice try by a mccain "plant" to attract attention to the subject, but it will backfire. joe the plumber wants to buy a business that will make $280k/ yr in gross revenue. after expenses are paid, joe the plumber would inevitably draw a lower salary and qualify for lower taxes under obama's plan. the joke's on joe the plumber who can't figure out how to add, subtract, much less run a business. not even a plumber - ha. owes the State $1,200 in back taxes too. typical republican fraud.

Precisely! Both candidates talked about Joe the Plumber, but McCain dragged the guy into it. McCain made it seem that Joe the Plumber represents every American with a dream, so of course it started a crazy media firenzy. Overall, I think Joe is enjoying his time in the spotlight, so who really cares?

The McCain camp has proved again it does a poor job of vetting people. Sarah Palin is a prime example.
