I consider Mormons as Christians and most people I know do although they might not agree with everything they believe.
I do too and I came up in the "conservative wing" of the Lutheran Church. I got an awakening when I moved to TX and worked with, and had a lot of clents who were evangelicals. The consider Mormons to be "cult" members. The first time I heard that I almost fell over.
They explained to me that to them a "cult" is any operation that does NOT accept Jesus Christ as the TRUE lord and savior. I might as well have insulted the UT Longhorns or A&M Aggies!

The SJ Mercury News (San Jose) is a great paper (my Mom got it in Los Gatos), their circulation is now bigger than the Chronicle, which has become more of a rag of late..

That would be a small percentage of the Republican party. Not all Christian conservatives consider themselves evangelicals. They do not control the party like some think.

On topic....The Houston Chronicle endorses Obama/Biden. It mentions that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison would've made the choice more difficult had McCain picked her instead of Palin.

Yup--Hutchison would have been a much better choice. Palin really hurt McCain.

LDS church members do believe in Jesus and that "he died for our sins". For crying out loud, the name of of their church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
