Hard to prove it's illegal.... if my friend in Greece sent me $100.00 as a gift and I spent $100.00 on groceries and $100.00 on a political campaign....which $100.00 would be illegal? Neither.?

Your argument makes no sense but your intent is clear.

This is 110% illegal! This much I know! The money is covered in the citizen's name here, but comes from foreign entities. No wonder Obama was able to raise $200 million!

Today I read a report that a high percentage of that money has no traceable accounting! Now this?

Who, where and how do I report this?
Make sure you report to the authority who is a non-Obama supporter or else it will just be ignored.

Well, the Obama campaign has already been accused of bundling donations and this sounds similar. Bundling smaller donations into larger ones keeps them from having to disclose every contributer.

Oh, is that what the OP is trying to imply? I missed that. I thought she was trying to be a good citizen and report possible illegal donations. Didn't connect the dots that she was possibly trying to intimate that Obama has "terrorist connections" abroad who are donating to his campaign. Guess I shoulda known? Hmmm...

I think I would probably agree with dontbugme and Who?Me?! that the donations could've been gifted to the person making the donation, and therefore are legal. If my mom lives in England and gives me $100 and then I use that $100 to donate to Obama's campaign, I don't see how that can be considered illegal...unless I had already donated the maximum amount allowable. How could anyone determine that the $100 that was given to me, wasn't used to pay my cell phone bill, and then my own $100 from my paycheck was used to donate to the campaign. As far as I know, people don't have to explain where they got the money that they're using for the donation. There's not really any way to do that for every donation....and everyone would just state "income." I would think that as long as the people making the donations are US citizens, and are not donating more than the max allowable donation, the origination of the money is irrelevent. Now, if foreign people are just using American citizens' names, but are making the donations themselves (the foreigners), I would think that's illegal, but, again, difficult to trace unless donations are made in an American's name, but paid for with a foreigner's credit card.

I could certainly be wrong...that's just what I think about the situation.

I have thought all along that much of this money is coming in illegally. The bulk of the donations are under $200 so they don't have to be reported. That law needs to be changed and full accountability needs to implemented.

Its still illegal if the intent is an illegal contribution..

Your argument makes no sense but your intent is clear.
Your example is very different to the op because you took direct posession of the $100, going through a third party you never take and deposit funds into your account and you fail to be able to choose where to send the money, its not in your account..
