Why would anyone do that? We enjoy seeing right wingnuts make fools of themselves.
It is one of their more endearing qualities.

Yeah. The technology and physics aspects could be interesting, but just watching is just a little less boring than watching rocks grow.

The irony to Nascar fans is that the folks who come up with the new rubber, the new paints, the new engineering............ all PhDs.

my 2 cents worth: The "putting down" of educated americans, whether that education is had through formal means (college, etc.) or through non-traditional means (reading, thinking, openminded debate) is really rather appalling! Do we really wish to revert to a country of brawn over brain? It is our native intelligence, a trait that all except for (perhaps) the mentally impaired possess, that has allowed us to create "civilization". This trait has also, of course, allowed us to find ways to take unfair advantage of others, to put selfish needs above societal needs, and to ignore that these practices will, ultimately, hurt our society and our world. We can choose wisdom. . . not the same thing as "education" but definatly related to it; if and only if, we do not choose to rally around the "lowest common denomonator"!

Come on you guys, live and let live. There are PhDs, MDs, MBAs and so on who like to watch NASCAR, at least occasionally.

It's not a question of convincing people that democrats are 'smarter' than conservatives, the article makes the point that the Republican party has alienated intellectuals.
