You are both right. Anti skid technology was indeed invented for military aeronautical use. The ASCU (anti skid control unit) which is one of many developments was developed for the military by scientists/engineers at military contractor (similar to Lockheed, Hughes Aircraft, Skunkworks, etc.) and it has since been adopted for use in automobiles.

Do you think that being a "real American" should be a philosophical/political standard?

Historical example --- in Nazi Germany: Jews, Gypsies, left-leaning socialists, and non-Aryans were not "real Germans".

My husband is both. Not that he goes out of his way to watch that stuff, but a couple times a year he watches races on TV. His PhD is in physics.

Elite means "cream of the crop" people.

Still, the tactic has worked pretty well for the GOP up until now.
All that is about to change though.

Sigh. Another forum member who doesn't know the difference between "elite" and "elitist" - please, go grab a dictionary.

By your rationale, drag racers must be even dumber. Gas, shift, gas, shift, gas, shift, gas.... hopefully go 1/4 a mile 0.01 second faster than before.

Get with the program.. there are plenty of intelligent people who think the futility of improving one's golf game is for the insane.

There are plenty of reasons one likes their sport, which is exactly why every sports has plenty of very intelligent people interested and involved. I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I do like some forms of racing. At least I'm not of the kind that put down another sport because I find nothing interesting about it.

I don't know who you mean by "both" but whatever. I remember both "counters" and "boss boxes" and when the mighty 2800's ruled the skies. 9 blades both mags to "on" position.

We're certainly wandering far off topic ...

Maybe you NASCAR/aviation junkies ("not that there's anything wrong with that") should find a room somewhere.
