Since the Great Depression, the progressive tax code has been used as a tool to "redistribute wealth" from Social Security to welfare, from the Earn Income Tax Credit enacted by Gerald Ford the U.S. has pursued a progressive tax structure that has charged the wealthy more, and paid for a social safety net for workers who make less. So if you would, please point out how Obama's tax proposals differ from this long standing policy goal?

The GOP doesn't want a progressive tax system. They want a regressive tax system and they have been working hard every decade to tilt "progessive" policies in that direction.

The difference could not be any more clear.

Personally, I don't buy that in its entirety. The fundamentals of the progressively higher tax rates still do exist, the issue is the rate of the progressiveness. Nonetheless, even under Republican administrations, higher paid income earners pay for benefits to lower income workers.

I think this tax system will work the right way this time. Why? Because Obama understands the diverse lay of the land, he has been down in it right up close and personal. He knows who needs what and how they need it! He is the first person that I believe will do what is right for the American people, because he's saturated himself in TRUE AMERICA! Not the America we'd all like to make believe we live in, but the one that we ACTUALLY LIVE IN which is unfair and unbalanced!

Everyone needs EQUAL opportunities to reach their potential, and I know that he will create that for everyone! There will not be any discriminating allowed...

Get off my thread you Obamite!

I want to hear from those "He's a Marxist" Palin loving crowd who claim that his tax proposals are the antithesis of all that is American.

I'm having too much fun to take a chiller (whatever that might be),

I am always, relaxed, related to somebody, and release only when they are under the size limit.
