Barney is the only member of the Bush family I like...I love dogs. However, though I have nothing to go on, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he has been abused by one or more members of the Bush household. After all, Republicans are not exactly known for their love of animals..we only have to look no further than Palin as an example.

I doubt it very much. The Bush family are big dog lovers and Laura Bush and I remember when she headed a luncheon in Austin some years ago when I lived there for Kinky Friedmans Utopia Ranch....kicked myself for not coughing up the $$$ to attend.
You never try to pet a dog that obviously isn't in a very agreeable mood. Let it come to you, the reporter was kind of dumb. But the way the media's gone after his master, old Barney did good and earned a treat.
I have a mental picture of Barak Obama showing off the new First Family dog with it tearing at his pants leg and growling. "Down Dinkums, down!"
I think Barney is so cute! I love terriers and have one myself. The reporter should not have reached out like he did, the dog was probably not enjoying all the people and lights around him. I wouldn't call the guy an idiot though and from what I heard he had a good sense of humor about it and is not going to sue.
