America is no longer duped by bs.

The win for Obama proves this. According to Former Sen. Laxalt's daughter (a staunch Republican) the Repubs need to reqwork their party, from a party of hate and intolerance, to a party of tolerance and concerned more with fiscal conservatism.

I see more hate coming from the left then I could ever imagine coming from the Republicans. The real reason poor people vote for the Democratic party? They think guys like Obama are going to pass out free candy. That is, that is why, nothing more, nothing less.

Don't believe me? Look at proposition 8. 99% of blacks voted for Obama in California, yet over 75% voted for prop 8. That should tell you something and yields a big clue.

I keep hearing 24/7 how conservatives and even moderates are dead and gone the way of the dinosaur in American. I find this to be pure nonsense. If proposition 8 did not confirm this for you, I dont know what will. California is a very liberal state.

84% of all Americans practice some form of Judaeo Christianity.

Most Americans (like 85%) fall between the slight-left, Moderate, to slight right) about 7% are extreme to the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Most Black Americans, are not flaming liberals, they are socially conservative and have conservative values. I said most, not all.

This election was really not About McCain, or Obama, or about America suddenly becoming a flaming leftist nation. It was about Bush and getting as far away from him as voters thought they could.

So, in conclusion here, if your guy, Obama screws this up, goes too far left, tries drastic changes to the constitution, or so on, it will be one and done. And history will chalk it all up to a great experiment. If he does well, then the country will THEN likely start leaning left. Until then, keep your pants on, we are not "San Francisco-style nation!"

PS. And as for Palin, she will be back. You have CNN coming out yesterday admiting most of the reports about Palin were LIES and yes they used the term, LIES! The hatched job done on Palin by the leftist media in this country was unprecendented.

lol. palin may be back, doesnt mean the public wants her.

Laxalt was correct in her assessment. She stated that Repubs are in trouble, and the entire party needs to be overhauled.

You are hinging on religion, and it wont work this time. prop 8 is one issue. That dead issue works for people who live in trailer parks, and havent finished high school.

People are too smart, and this election proves it.

The GOP needs to clean house in a big way. The problem is that the leadership (Rove & Co.) choose to be hateful, intolerant and dishonest.

I welcome a new kind of Republican Party that is more moderate and less driven by religion and imposing their beliefs on all Americans.

If they concerned themselves with fiscal issues, they may gain popularity- the religion and hate-mongering thing is so over-

Michelle Laxalt had some excellent observations on Larry King last week, and if Mccain actually cared about the country he would have picked Olympia Snowe as running mate.
She stated that they need to stay out of the bedroom and stop dictating morals, its not right....

the GOP is in trouble. Then again the Democratic party has been in trouble also. You need to step back and look at things from a more non partisan perspective though when you call the GOP the party of hate and intolerance because the DNC can be and is just as hateful and intolereant at times also.

And you all that like to talk down on Republicans and conservatives are constantly saying they are all rednecks, trailerpark trash, religious zealots, that kind of makes you look as uneducated and small minded as you accuse them of being.

I agree the Republican party needs some changes. Anytime you loose an election, just like a sports team you have to evaluate yourself. But to imply it is a raging hate filled entity is nonsense. They have to find a way to connect to more minorities in this country. Lets call a spade a spade here. Democrats get the minority vote in this country not because they are so loving and sing kumbaya, it's because they promise freebies. Look at Obama, he ran around the country promising everyone everything and us republicans knew it was not possible. Now, two days post election Obama is his setting the platform for the big letdown. It ain't happening! There is and will be no free lunch. Your man, Obama, is looking more and more like a conservative Republican by the minute.

Religion has little to do with it as you implied above. Again, 84% of Americans have Chritian based beliefs with well over 90% believing in a God or creator. I agree a hard line bible thumper will not do well, but neither would an athiest.

The Republican party needs to address the major issue of selling their ideas to minorities and it will be fine.

Pirate Girl: that's the consensus of people looking at the issue. One of the few intellectual conservatives still writing clearly stated the case in today's Wall Street Journal: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122610558004810243.html

Excerpts:

- no matter our political affiliations, we should all, GOP and DEM alike, toast the return of Gov Sarah Palin to Juneau, AK

- McCain's choice of Palin was not a fluke, a senior moment, or an act of desperation. It was the result of a long campaign by influential conservative intellectuals to find a young, populist leader to whom they might hitch their wagons in the future. And not just any intellectuals. It was the editors of National Review and the Weekly Standard, magazines that present themselves as heirs to the sophisticated conservatism of William F. Buckley and the bookish seriousness of the New York neoconservatives. After the campaign for Sarah Palin, those intellectual traditions may now be pronounced officially dead.

- So what happened? How could younger conservative intellectuals promote a candidate like Sarah Palin, whose ignorance, provinciality and populist demagoguery represent everything older conservative thinkers once stood against?

To get the answers, you'll have to read the WSJ article. Anyone serious about rebuilding the GOP needs to hit the link.

Cowboy, although Christianity is the overwhelming majority in America, you have to remember that most christians are liberal thinkers. A small representation of christians tend to represent the entire religion because they are in your face with their intolerance and they make enough noise that the party panders to them.

There are gay christians. There are democrat christians. Not everyone believes in abortion and not everyone believes in gay marriage. But most people are capable of acknowledging that something is not right for them but is OK for people who choose those things. A true christian focuses on their personal relationship with God rather than on imposing their will on the world at large.

Using the number of Christians in America to justify the kind of values the party has is a huge mistake.
