As ugly and as politically incorrect as the wolf killing might seem to some, they said, the helicopter gunning that took place earlier this year saved caribou, especially young caribou, from being eaten alive.

Fall surveys of the Southern Alaska Peninsula caribou herd completed in October found an average of 39 calves per 100 cows. That's a dramatic improvement from fall counts of only 1 calf per 100 cows in 2006 and 2007.
So, the people who know best, namely, Palin and the Wildlife Management in Alaska, have implemented programs that have virtually saved the caribou in this area.

Why don't the hand-wringing, whining liberals have compassion and concern for the poor caribou?

Don't confuse them with facts. Many liberals have no idea what real conservation is when it comes to nature and the like.

Thanks for the update. Obviously the country made a huge mistake with this information coming to light. They must have held onto this information to keep McCain and Palin out of the WH

Who would have thought, circumventing the law to get things done wouldn't be attractive to the populace in general who expects it's Executive Officers to follow the law...

She's going to try expanding the program over the next four years, I hear. "Dem-thinning" dotcha know. So if you're in a blue state and you hear a helicopter over head--watch out!

I've always liked wolves more than caribou.
