They do care, trust me. They follow orders as they are supposed to do, but the military is made up of thinking people whose main goal is to protect the people of the United States and their freedoms. You're right--they do want the President to make smart moves.

In the military, us enlisted use to use a phrase on officers we didn't like. "I have to respect the rank you wear,...I don't have to respect the man who wears it." They'll give him the respect for holding the position of Commander in Chief and most senior military commander. They will respect the title and position. Now as to if they will respect the man, that depends on the individual but most in the military don't give such respect to the man. That kind of respect is earned.
No, GW Bush didn't excel while in the military but he didn't fly to England to join Anti-war protesters and send a letter to his college ROTC commander telling him how he loathes the military.

These were the actions of a man more honorable than Bush and Cheney, both of which used cowardly means to avoid service, then boasted of how much they supported the war in Vietnam. I much prefer Clinton's approach.
Barack Obama will enter the White House without any military experience and with a playbook that emphasizes diplomacy, behind a president who waged two wars and presided over some of the largest-ever defense budget increases.
So, how will President Obama be received at the Pentagon? Much depends on his first moves.
You're missing the point. A president who found it inconvenient to serve in the armed forces because they were too busy hating America, could still have an acceptable working relationship with the military the way Clinton did. But I think Obama has another problem that the liberal mind won't be able to understand. McSame, McPain, McBush, Grandpaw McCain or any of the other tags the Obama people used to smear a war hero and contemporary of many of the military people he will be dealing with are still fresh in the minds of these generals. And what is far worse, slandering him and his service as a POW calling him "songbird" and a traitor for breaking under extreme torture while in the Hanoi Hilton will make the air heavy with disgust. Trust me, people in that room will hate Obama's guts for what he did.
So unless you serve in the armed forces you hate America? So about 90% of us are traitors?

Traitors, misfits, loudmouths, gutless wonders, mental cripples and just your standard terrorist sympathizer. Many reasons, some valid most probably not.

You are one delusional being.
