"there are some early indications that 2010 could be another strong year for Democrats. Republicans will once again be defending more seats (18-15) unless several Democrats retire unexpectedly from the body in the next 24 months.
Jennifer Duffy, an analyst with the Cook Report, says it's shaping up to be another bad year for Republicans. "This does not look to be a good cycle for them,"

I believe it is 19-16, including Illinois and Delaware. Mind you, Daniel "That little ***" Inouye will be 86 in 2010. Arlen Specter will be 80. 2 more Democrats and 6 more Republicans will be in their 70's in 2010, suggesting that even if they get re-elected, it's likely that they will not all finish what they start.
It would be hard for the Republicans to make up all the seats they would need to take over, but perhaps they can avoid losing any more ground. (No bets, at this time.)
I like how the next congress has not even come in session yet, and people are already saying that Republicans are sure to lose in 2010.
Let me tell you something, if the Democrats perform over the next two years as they have in the last two years in the Congress, Republicans will make many gains in 2010.
I think Obama will not make the same mistakes Bill Clinton made in 1993 which led to the republicans taking over the house in 1994. But in regards to the performance of the democrats the past two years, people really cant blame them because Bush vetoed everything they tried to do. Thier hands were tied. With a democratic president, they can make some progress.
this thread is an example of why America sucks so much and although will be a prominent nation in the world is going to be lapped 10x over by a number of developing and growing countries in the next 10-20 years
it's all about ideology and a bunch of a** hurt me-first conservative politicians and Republicans who are more concerned with the seat count of Congress rather then helping people who really need it
America you should be ashamed of yourself- and if you are looking for the guilty party- you need only to look into a mirror...

Funny - I heard the same crap in the late 60's... Japan was going to overtake us and just kick our ass economically... Guess what - never happened!!!
And as for China overtaking us - they may come close - but they are sitting on an overaged-population bomb that makes our Social Security and Medicare predicament look like a stroll in the park... Expect China to import massive numbers of workers from abroad (unlikely with their communist dictatorship), or look for China to start imploding economically in another 10 years or so...
And as for the tone of your message - s_c_r_e_w y_o_u!!

Chinese Democracy is going to happen faster than you think- it's not Marxist Lenin-ism over there anymore- its MARKET LENIN-ISM
open markets lead to a more open (not Democratic form of Gov't), but damn near close
I swear if we had Chinese Democracy in the US we as a people could do so many good things in this country (including solving the energy crisis which I predict China will solve before us because they have, to your point, more to lose if nobody does)- but sadly the division as provided by Conservatives and Republicans that want to be in ideological control prevent us from doing so- enjoy watching the 700 Club with a gas mask on in a few years!
