This year we got her an absentee ballot... she voted for Obama.

Having my MIL live with me is actually an excellent buffer to my wife... she usually takes MY side.
If the mum had serious health problems, BY ALL MEANS she should live with them! That's only right and decent. But this lady is healthy and active.

The First Family has a staff at their beck and call 24/7. They don't NEED granny moving in to take care of the kids. There's a staff for that.

A staff of strangers ... having Grandma Robinson at the White House is going to bring something stable from home for the kids.

If the MIL-living-with-family weren't such a stereotypical joke, why would there be so many TV shows and skits done about it?

So, it's another "first". We have our first African-American (or mixed race or whatever term you deem most politically appropriate) President. And now we have our first "First Mother in Law".
Thank you!!!! At least someone gets it!

But CNN says it's not a "first." Bess Truman had her mother staying at the WH, I believe.

You missed the point.

The righties here can knock themselves out scorning Michelle (and now her mom). I just felt that it needed to be pointed out that teatime likes to scream "sexism" almost any time people mention Palin, yet if you search her name here, she mentions Michelle dozens of times, and most of the comments are not in a positive light, including the thread here.

Hmmm, Amy Carter, Chelsea Clinton, and the Bush twins didn't need "something stable from home." Are you saying that the Obama kids are deficient? And little Amy Carter had to adjust to big city "Yankeeland" after being raised in the South. Hell's bells, the Carters even sent her to a public school in D.C.

Who cares? Why make this such a big issue.. it's not! our economy is in the toilet! THAT is the issue, not grandma moving in!

Bitter much?

Typical hyperbole. I scream when y'all TRASH Palin over her female attributes, not "any time people mention" her. You really don't get the difference, do you? Pathetic.

How about this -- since you have an insatiable desire to call me a name, you can call me an "in-lawist." That's at least relevant.

As "findingme..." recognized, this was SUPPOSED to be a funny thread to lighten things up. But your company chose to use it instead to attack me and NOT keep it fun. So, whatever. You people are even stiffer than your candidate.
