well thats nice but the complication here is that hunting is the point here. we want to hunt the caribou. We like eating them. We like hunting them.

Managing the herd and the preditor population is designed to allow for the hunting without doing harm to either the preditor population or the prey population....

Who are you to say it's all trophy hunting. Any statistics on the people that live off that game? I have yet to meet any hunter that didn't have their "game" sent to a butcher. Just because all you see is a head and some antlers didn't mean the rest was not used for a food source and any other benefits one can get from it.

Right and wolf populations would increase just as quick. A pack of wolves devour more than the numbers they have yearly. They have to eat constantly and will be forced to move to new locations to find that food. The biologist have said specifically to high of a predator rate and you face extinction of those caribou you now feel compassion for. What's next attacking the wolves because they don't follow your moral code?

It is ironic isnt it? save a wolf puppy so it can grow up and kill hundreds of caribou all the while laminting the notion that humans are killing hundreds of caribou.....

(I didnt go where I think you were thinking of going)

BigJon, I think both of us need someone to explain to us how allowing the growth rate of wolves to go unchecked is a good thing to folk who feel compassion for caribou.

my logic processor isnt computing that.

Where did I say it's all trophy hunting? I have no problem with hunting for food but you cannot tell me a huge part of the hunt is not purely for sport, and yes trophies.

No but we can get many many emotional responses.

I'm sorry I bow down to the numerous biologist that have agreed it's a needed practice after all they are apart of Wildlife (meaning all animals not the one that fits the political agenda to bash the governor with) Conservation.

It's illegal in AK to waste any meat suitable for human consumption when taking animals such as caribou.

and you cant tell me that sport hunting is bad.

in fact Alaskans would argue that sport hunting is a great boon to the Alaskan economy.

I am for subsistence hunting
I am for trophy hunting
I am for sport hunting
I am for wolf culling

Long live the human! (and may we find a balance in conservation that is often lacking with environmentalism
