All of the provisional ballots have been counted and here is the final count. Over 4 million people in North Carolina cast their votes. Voter turnout was 69%. It looks like Bob Barr cost McCain the state of North Carolina. The overwhelmingly majority of Barr supporters are republicans who didnt like McCain but would never vote for Obama.

49.7% Obama - 2,142,649

49.3% McCain - 2,128,457

Bob Barr - 25,722

bob barr didn't cost anyone anything. if they voted for barr, they obviously didn't agree with mccain. independents voted for him, and there are also independents who tend to vote for democrats. libertarians are MUCH different than the modern republicans.

As tight as this was in North Carolina, it was not as tight as Missouri. 2.9 million people cast their votes in Missouri and McCain only won by 3,632 votes there.

If Bob Barr wasnt on the ballot, the many repubs that voted for him would have ended up voting for McCain. There are enough repubs that voted for Barr that would have made the difference.

I guess the obama operation junk mail worked! I hope he wasn't counting on me recycling all the junk he sent to me. I am going to turn them all into boats and sail them on the cape fear river, so his face will be synonymous littering.

bob barr was for an immediate pull out of iraq. sorry, but your theory is off. barr appealed to some independents that normally vote for dems. mccain lost because he was a bad candidate, no other reason.
